Really nice story here on Q. Seems like a great kid who understands and really gets it. Hopefully he can turn his season around and produce at the level he is capable of.

We just won a road game in a place where we historically struggle by double digits while missing 20 straight shots. Was it ugly at times , yes it was. But guess what… that’s conference play on the road.
Remy still isn’t 100% and I think that is why he wasn’t very aggressive last night.

Fran was the one that said it. Having the scholarship reduction, a player on scholarship and red shirting, and the Morris situation have made this years roster what it is. They are still going to be a 2 or 3 seed in the tournament.
I just don’t see Self leaving right now. You don’t build what he built and then tuck your tail and run at the first sign of true turmoil. And I’m talking about the FBI stuff not winning the conference. He has a lot of pride in KU and what he has done. To me it would be way out of character for him to just leave and let some else clean up his mess.
My prediction: Even if it is not true KU fans will complain that the region is the hardest. It is like clockwork.
The way a lot of fans have turned on this team and or talk bad about it blows my mind. I actually enjoy watching this team. They are not great defensively, but other than the Kentucky game they have been in every game. They have battled back numerous times from being down to come back and win games. The funny thing is all the analytic sites say this is a good team.

@BShark it’s bizarre how this fan base always try to talk themselves into a player staying or hood out hope they will stay when there is no logical reason for that player to stay. I’d love for Gradey to come back, but I also know it makes zero sense for him.
Still love and watch college sports as much as I always have. I am happy the players can make some money off of themselves to help take care of their families, do charity work, and enjoy college life a little bit more. I am never against people making more money.
DP will be at KU next year. Also, coaches from all schools go and watch committed players. It is called continuing a relationship. You don’t just ignore players when they commit. This isn’t difficult to figure out.

I have not read the article, but I find that amusing. PJ Washington has been incredible this year and I would assume that is mainly what the article is about, but besides the Wall, AD, Cousins type players who has gone to UK and blown up and gotten so much better. I am sure there are a few, but what about the Harrison Twins, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lee, Trey Lyles, Weynen Gabriel, Sasha Jones, etc…
I feel like Cal gets a pass because of all of the top end talent he gets that are going to be great no matter where they go.

Paraphrasing… Self is confident in the way KU conducts their business. It is uncomfortable to have his name and KU’s name in a federal trial , but he also is not as concerned because he knows how he conducts his business.
I am absolutely fascinated on how Self will fill this roster out. With playing time, NIL, and the Kansas brand Self should have the pick of the litter in the portal.

I will go 48-17. I think the offense will roll, but I am not sure how long the starters will play. However, we know Bean is capable of putting points on the board. I think the main focus will be on the defense. We won’t learn a ton playing against MO St., but if we can get pressure against these guys it might be a long year. Kind of hope it is just a vanilla game with a butt kicking.

Very nice pickup for Bill and the staff. Kid has been on the come up in the rankings. Hopefully this helps with Brown as well, and opens the door for KU at Sunrise.
People read way too much into exhibition games. Ballard even mentioned it last night about how hard it is to get guys up for games like that. He mentioned his times at KU and what the locker room was like before those games. KU’s intensity and focus will be on a whole different level come Tuesday and the rotation will be much shorter which will help the guys get into a rhythm.

While I believe this to be true it is amazing he has signed the #1 recruiting class in the country and Bill can’t even get a top 100 kid.

As you said there is a lot of uncertainty and frankly some uneasiness over the program and coaching staff as a whole. While I would be shocked if Self left right now leaving his program high and dry I am not ruling it out. I have heard some rumblings that he doesn’t think he is getting the full support or at leas the support he thinks he should be getting from the new AD / AD office.
I think Hurt is the most important recruit in the Self era. Not because he is a Wiggins talent, but because KU needs some momentum and something good to happen on the recruiting trail. Also I am not sure next years team can be competitive on the level we as fans expect if everyone leaves that we assume will leave and they do not sign someone like Hurt. I think Precious is a pipe dream at this point.
KU is going to sign with Adidas because at the end of the day this is a business and Adidas is offering by far the best deal. It is not even close. Nike wouldn’t even outfit all of the schools sports. That has been a sticking point and KU is not going to turn down this contract and take less money and then have to spend more money. Quite frankly it doesn’t make much sense to do so. Sure it looks bad right now, but as time goes by people will forget. The athletic department as a whole already operated in the red as it is. They also have zero negotiating power even if they wanted to switch to Nike. So sooner than later they are going to sign their deal with Adidas.
Just watched the whole thing on ESPN+. Self is 100% laser focused and ready for this year to start. You can tell he is motivated as heck and knows he has a good team. That PC just reinforces there is no one else I would want coaching my team other than Bill.
I think Braun might be the X factor to this season.

@BShark There is no doubt this is about money. There is already a FB game (s) in the works which will generate more money. It makes all the sense in the world for Mizzou to want to do this. I just do not see the value that this brings to KU.
I also think this shows Long does not have a very good pulse on the overall fanbase. He is getting bashed over this. On top of the Snoop debacle and this has not been his finest month or so.
I really hope we can end the Marcus bashing. Not necessarily people on this board but he gets more flack than anyone on this team and he is nothing but solid.

If Marcus were to be suspended then there is going to be a hell of a lot of suspensions. He didn’t do anything. At the very end he shoved #34 but it was a get the F out of my face shove and not violent at all.

I think it’s as simple as Dave was playing significantly better than Doke yesterday so Self went with him. Doke never got into any kind of rhythm and was struggling all game long . Not too mention he still is a liability on the FT line and there is no doubt Beard would have fouled him.

This was probably the best win of the season for this team. It is amazing the turn around from last year as far as winning on the road. Most of it has to do with the defense as they say defense always travel, but I think this team has a lot of grit and it seems like every time a team makes a run they answer with a run of their own.
It was awesome to watch the last 8 minutes or so when the D really turned up and they completely shut WV down. Garrett and Doke were both phenomenal down the stretch on D. This team isn’t “sexy” because they can’t shoot or score very well but they are a lot of fun to watch to me with the will to guard and win.
What Doke has done to his body and game is absolutely phenomenal.
He played 36 minutes today which is just unbelievable.
