I’m seeing clearly now that we want to avoid a 7-8 seed in the NCAAs. Rough facing a 1 or 2 seed that early, so a 6 seed would be sooo much better.

I hope the team can indeed build some momentum and get to the final of the Big 12 tourney.

And it looks like the Chiefs have now locked up Nick Bolton for three more years.

Some interesting moves so far. Lots thought he would move on to the Bengals.

Whew. Worthy will not be charged for now. It’s possible if they gather more evidence later though.

I mean, he entered the game and immediately headed to the basket agressively and drew a foul? That’s like unheard of for KU this year. Then he was yanked for whatever infraction Self could come up with.

More AJ! I don’t care what position he plays. Just let him drive the ball. That seems to be his superpower, even though we rarely get a chance to see it. Somebody other than Dajuan has to drive the lane. Please.

We played a quality opponent today. So, not a total shame to lose. But at home, i expect us to win them all.

I’d guess we all agree that two things stood out today: Defending the 3 pt line, and Zeke’s poor play.

It wasn’t a piss poor effort, but the above items made it look worse.

If teams are forcing Juan and KJ to take the majority of shots, something’s wrong.

If Zeke is in the crapper, something’s wrong.

The fix? Let’s play AJ Storr, and use him as a volume shooter. We’ve barely seen his offensive skills put to use this year. I think he can drive the lane with enthusiasm. Give him the ball and get out of the way!

Why not. Can’t be that much worse, right? (ha)

I know there will be issues elsewhere, but is his defense that much worse than Zeke’s?

Bill Self may be the most stubborn man on the planet. Switching and doubling down low is and has been killing us for years. Guys are just WIDE open on the perimeter. Are Athletic Directors allowed to have a come to jesus chat with coaches???

The women have been playing in the She Believes tourney this week. They brought an inexperienced, youthful side mostly. There were many faces I didn’t recognize. One player looked good I thought: Stentnor?? Not sure of the spelling.

She was great on the ball. Creative. That’s a much needed skill. Attack, attack, attack. Loved it.

As much as I so far bad mouth Maccario, she had a beautiful assist. They had her at striker, too. She looked less ball hoggy there.

They lost to Japan in the last game. Japan looked super duper sharp. I assume their 11 was full of regulars.

Per Trey Smith: Some are speculating it sets the stage for a tag and trade.

And the BIG news of the day:

Chiefs will franchise tag Trey Smith.

outside of KJ, none of our guys like to play through contact. They all try to keep space away from the defender in midrange and low post. NOT GOOD!

KJ plays through contact? Ha. I think you’re thinking of a different KJ! With his body, KJ SHOULD play thru contact, but doesn’t. Rarely goes up strong. (Alley oops don’t count)

So what happened in the first 10 min?

Man oh man, glad we’re up, but we can we do some stupid sh*t on the basketball court. And this is a veteran team.

We just compound mental errors. what could have been a 10+ point lead is down to five.

Harris for no reason at all drives into a dozen guys in the lane and throws it away. Zero reason to try that. Know the clock and score.

Zeke COMPLETELY forgets to play anything remotely close to defense and we give up a simple baseline bucket.

Know the score! Know the game! Play smart!

Work: done

Dinner: eaten

Dishes: done

Next up: Jayhawks. Please keep me in a calm state of mind before bed!

Yea, that 8 p.m. west coast time slot (9 p.m. Colorado time / 10 p.m. Kansas time) is pretty regular out here. Somebody gets stuck with it most every week.

Gives us on the coast something to watch after dinner for sure though. Sucks for everybody else. Sucks for local Kansas fans for sure.
