KJ played the best game he could possibly played and we lost because the guard group is horrible

I’m more excited for this season than I was for last season. I was pretty sure we had no nba guys and we were running back a core that still had horrible fit problems. We got the potential #1 pick on our team this year and a bunch of athletes. Tons to be positive about

This program desperately needs Peterson. We’ve been stuck with senior holdovers for the last 2 seasons and they’ve been incredibly underwhelming. Peterson has the potential to be the best guard in college basketball and the best guard in the nba, and he’ll probably be the face of the program in the NBA since Embiid is cycling out his career. You need upper echelon talent to survive

The only way I’ll really be impressed if the young man is good enough to lead us to a championship. Maybe he is. Can Self build around him well enough? IDK.

yeah man I totally disagree. Him being successful in the program is huge for future recruits and for public perception. Coaches can point to him as a success story for going to kansas, like how they’ve used Embiid for all of the bigs recruiting for the last 10 years. Guys like Jalen Wilson and CB are totally fine NBA players but they aren’t needle movers like darryn might be.

I don’t blame people for being a little low on this team given the history of the last 2 seasons. But this is a totally new team built around a great NBA prospect with athletes all across the board. As you said, we’ll get an idea of whether or not they should be ranked higher earlier with the non conference schedule

Second half felt like bill wanting the team to play without Peterson. Really pleased with what we saw, tons to improve on but this is a very athletic team

Feel like everything went against us. Garbage qb play, somehow not recovering the fumbled snap or the muffed punt

Honestly didn’t think we were gonna be a major part of Tre Johnson’s recruitment but I saw some Baylor people say that the big three for him were Baylor, Texas and Kansas and in one of the 247 recruiting videos, Travis Branham made the visit sound like a pretty major development. Ultimately we’ll see, seems like a Nike guy. I’d also love for Kansas to throw an offer out to VJ Edgecombe, he’s a riser in the rankings and he’ll be on the Adidas circuit this spring/summer so we should have an in

What about the players “wage”? GTFO! Self at least has earned his over YEARS of work and success. He’s proven he cares. These kids have proven NOTHING.

Not sure why we can’t maintain some sort of standard for him. Love him for his legendary tenure, but these last few seasons have been a disaster and he’s the main architect for this roster with a top 5 NIL budget in the sport. He said he was thinking about the roster for this season for the majority of last season and ended up putting out the same main parts and added complimentary transfers versus making an actual change and doubling down on archaic basketball principles.

Seems to be a given that one of them leaves. They just added a guy who’s playing at least 30 minutes a game and both were top 50 recruits that probably wanted an increased role at the very least.
