Finally finished watching.
Would have to say that Elmarko ain’t it. Dawson looks like he doesn’t fit. McDowell is meh.
Most electric guard off the bench is Ngala

@Kcmatt7 we’ll see how it goes here but I’d rank him As about the 6th best player right now. Most of the mock drafts I’ve seen haven’t been updated since play started. It will stink if he goes number 2 and we do nothing with him. That much I know lol
Not trying to argue anything. Certainly a good class of freshman.
But if you want something more up to date, DP is leading betting odds at +120 to go #1. Dybantsa is +190 and Boozer is +240. That’s on Draftkings rn.
Nobody else is better than 100 to 1 odds.

If I was an NBA GM I’d be very curious about all Peterson’s soft tissue injuries. At this point I absolutely would not draft him with a top 5 pick. He’s that good, but if Peterson can only play 20 minutes once a week in college, he’ll never make an NBA schedule.
Shades of late career Eric Berry. This is concerning.
DP isn’t getting picked top 5 regardless of his injury issues. This freshman class is very stout. I’d guess he goes 8-12 at this point. He’s definitely not the best freshman in CBB this year.
I don’t see a mock that doesn’t have him going top 2. He’s been everything thought and more. He’s a top 5 pick.
Alright relax. This sucked. This season didn’t go how it should have. Definitely underperformed for our talent.
No need to get into an internal disagreement about what level of crimson glasses is appropriate
The players lost this game though don’t get me wrong. The dropped picks are the game changer.
OK, fire Lance. Get ready for the next decade of blowout losses.
You are allowed to criticize decisions. Many things can be true. He got the program out of the gutter, but he takes the ball out of the offenses hands with the game on the line too much.
He plays not to lose instead of trying to win
@webjay Check his win totals and get back to me on never plays to win.
At the D1 level they aren’t great… His conservative decisions have cost us many times imo.
This team is too talented to not make a freaking bowl game. Just such a disappointment of a season.
Will LL ever learn that if you want to win, you have to take it? Absolutely no reason to kick that FG
YES. Mizzou game was the same. Can’t remember if Cincy we blew it by not being aggressive either.
You have to get a defensive stop no matter what. Go for it and get it you win. Don’t get it and you’re only slightly worse off than kicking a FG that you MAKE.
@Crimsonorblue22 yea they have two in the backfield and got rid of the guy in the middle of the field didn’t they?
why won’t college adopt the NFL referee positioning and get the official out of the way?
PICK THE BALL OFF. Such a KU Football game. Could be a blow out

Gave up 59 points in the 2d half…
I mean this is clearly the issue. Not saying offense didn’t have its woes, but this was supposed to be a team with some defensive prowess.
Not getting anything at the rim. We started getting some buckets there but haven’t been able to in several minitea
If we can survive without DP until half that’s all we can really ask of this bunch.
Also a lot of ticky tack fouls for how they’re letting Trimble guard DP
@Zabudda I’m definitely surprised by his pro career. He’s been a good journeyman. I wonder what his college career would have been like if he played somewhere not as team-oriented style of play as KU. If he had played for a not blue blood that let him shoot without abandon I bet his college numbers would have been insane. 15ppg his final year here, but I bet that is 20ppg somewhere else.
@wissox said in Jayhawks in the pros:
Lots of guys from KU in the pros this year, but seemingly some taking their swan song. Not sure why Och and Grady’s minutes are limited in Toronto, but they are. Wilson doing about the same with the Nets. Embiid’s production is waning as is Higgins…or is it Wiggins? Oubre and Grimes are still productive pro’s but I am way more impressed by grinders who hung around KU and made a name here for themselves like SVI. He scored 28 tonight for Utah!! Braun’s still starting, but not scoring a ton, which isn’t his role anyways.
Oh and in 5 minutes of action Hunter was 1-2 and had a block and 2 fouls and 2 turnovers. That’s a lot of bad to fit into 5 minutes. But those are his only minutes he’s played.
Ingram taking up a lot of minutes that would have gone to Ochai and Dick last year. Can’t say that’s the wrong decision, but it does suck for those two guys.
@Jhawk69 I guess I was just hopeful that he would be able to be some kind of offensive threat. Either in transition or with the ability to drive to the rim.
But so far he’s really not done a lot. He had 11 in that Louisville game, but 9 were free throws. He’s made 4 baskets in 66 minutes of playing time. I figured he would be better than that…
At the same time, none of the guards on the bench are doing much thus far. He may be the best of the bunch. At least he can defend and knows his role on this team I think.
@Jhawk69 what are we liking about Elmarko so far?
I expected him to be a guy who. Pups get to the rim a bit tbh
I really hope we see LL here one more year at least. I do think they do all the right things as far as running a football program, so the floor is higher than a lot of other guys we could end up with. If he makes a bowl this year he should get two years no matter what. Bowls 2/3 years moving forward should be expectations.
Next steps are really just stacking bowls and beating rivals. We aren’t THAT far from that. Win one of these final 3 games, get that bowl and extra practice. Do it again next year.
You can already see us doing better recruiting locally against KSU. Keep that up for 3-4 years and you’ll see KU take a step up, and likely KSU a step down. Let LL recruit to his new facilities for a few years.
The program is in as good of shape as it has been in 13 years. We just need to be a patient fanbase. I do think we are still on the right track. Progress is unfortunately not linear at times
@BeddieKU23 said in KU Vs Green Bay Game Chat:
One thing I was focused on was Dawson since he’s been basically MIA through the 2 exh and 1 game so far. He doesn’t look playable right now which isn’t good. Perhaps he isn’t healthy and is trying to play through whatever leg injury he has. Body Language and aggression are not there when he has been in the game. Not someone that looked to be fighting that hard to get back in the rotation. Mari was playing twice as hard as him and Kohl has certainly shown he’s valuable to this team. Hopefully he can figure it out as the season goes.
Yea kind of wild to see Dawson playing like a freshman and the freshman playing like a vet.
So far imo:
Still a very good 10-man group. Hoping to see them still be elite defensively. Team plays above the rim and can really push the tempo. Better shooting team than I expected, mostly from DP so far. But outside of Flory and Mbiya everyone who steps on the floor is a threat to shoot the 3.
They handle the ball well and pass well. Sometimes too quick of a shot but I’m not complaining too much about that. I like that we pick up full court. I think we have the bodies and athleticism to do that.
They do need to find something from the bench. Tiller is good there. But they need a guard to step up a bit. Ideally Elmarko…
@FarmerJayhawk ball moves well. Always 2 basically primary ball handlers on the floor at the same time
Really expected Dawson to be a mainstay in the rotation. A bit disappointed to see him so far down the bench
How much would this team beat last year’s by?
@kjayhawks said in Sanders and the Buffaloes:
Well I was perfect with my first year prediction of 4-8 and it’s looking like Coach Prime maybe wearing out his welcome in Boulder.
$33M buyout if fired. $12M if he leaves voluntarily.
So would likely meet in the middle at $20M for him to leave… still steep.
Don’t disagree though. His schtick works a lot better when you win games than when you don’t.
@DCHawker said in KU Vs Green Bay Game Chat:
Finding things to complain about… Two guys have 34 of our 48 points. Need to see some production out of other starters and especially the bench…
I’ve been looking for the go to guy if DP gets hurt. I think it’s probably Council. Elmarko was someone I was hopeful for but he still looks like he doesn’t know that he’s playing basketball out there.
Going to need more out of Tre White and Rosario.
This team really could have used Diggy off the bench imo.
But also maybe this Gotlieb guy can’t coach. Tbh shocked he ever got a job offer
This team so far continues to look special. Defense looks elite and it’s like 90% just being crazy long and athletic
Positives so far? Council looks like a dude.
Not a lot else looking great.
@kjayhawks said in Lance Leipold:
Honest questions I’d like to hear some input on. Is Lance Leipold a good D1 coach? Is he a good recruiter? The two best years in Lawrence (6-7 in 22, 9-4 in 2023) were loaded with Les Miles recruits. Did he get lucky with the foundation Les laid and now we are seeing he is incompetent?
I think his recruiting has been pretty solid. The QB room is as good as we could hope imo. I thought the transfers he brough in this year are good.
They need to take defense more seriously this offseason. They have to find some pass rushers and some guys who can create negative plays on the DL especially.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Lance Leipold:
This cycle is going to be especially insane. We’re probably looking at 25ish FBS openings. Which drives me nuts about the fire Lance crowd. Where do they think we fall in that ranking, especially in a year where there aren’t really many great candidates out there?
I think a lot of people forget how hard it is to win here. And even if they do, keeping them here long enough to actually build a program.
I do think making bowls with his own guys is important. If he can’t do that, we do need to move on. But he absolutely should get another season at the very least. Probably 2 considering the buyout.
@kjayhawks said in Kansas State hate:
What a disgusting performance, this maybe the first time in the Leipold era I’m ashamed of our program and lack of progress. Maybe the first team we’ve had get worse as the year goes on. If we don’t get to a bowl, his seat should be hot.
He gets one more season with his shiny toys to recruit to. If he misses a bowl next season though you have to move on. He’s done a ton for the program and whoever the next coach is after him needs to send a massive thank you. But the reality is the standard for a P5 team like KU should be to make a bowl game 2 of every 3 seasons to keep your job from here on out.
Man this season has sucked. LL doesn’t make a bowl this year or next and I’m afraid he may have done all he can for this program.
I’m not sure we should throw the ball again today.
TD on the first drive out of half really swings momentum
Very happy with what we saw tonight. Athleticism is the main takeaway
Wish the coaches could choose to not shoot the free throws in an exhibition
Tiller has to be playing better in practice.
Want to see some sets ran against a real D. End of game situations before DP goes out
Would like to see more Dawson this half. Would like to see Elmarko try to get aggressive here too

That PnR Peterson and Flory looks pretty dangerous
Unguardable when he’s shooting like this
I do think I’ve now seen enough of Tre White to see why he never became that 30mpg guy anywhere he’s been
@FarmerJayhawk said in KU vs Louis exhibition game chat:
I like the cut of this group’s jib
Certainly going to be a fun team to watch.
STAAAAAAHP. Get out of here
Man expectations are about to get insane after this performance from DP
Council is going to end up a fan favorite
