Just a few names to throw out as far as issues we’ve had. Guilty or not, fair or not, issues that came up that had impact on seasons.

Vick x 2, Josh Jackson, Carlton Bragg, Arterio Morris, Remy Martin, Billy Preston, Silvio DeSousa, Cliff Alexander, Cheick Diallo, Embiid back being “close”, Josh Shelby nagging injuries.

I get that other programs have similar issues and we just don’t see them because we aren’t following them that close. But it at least feels like we have dumb shit impact our seasons more often than it should.

Haha, X really is something else—so many “rational” takes that somehow make zero sense in context! I get the frustration. Sometimes it feels like people just throw out whatever hot take will get the most reactions.

I’m with you on giving the benefit of the doubt. A tight hamstring doesn’t need to be a national scandal, and the kid’s still adjusting to a higher level of play and expectations. Sure, it’s exciting to talk about the “next Kobe,” but let’s not forget they’re human too.

As for the more sinister takes… honestly, sometimes it’s just speculation mixed with wishful thinking. I wouldn’t read too much into it unless we get verified info. Best case, he heals, stays focused, and we get to see what he can do on the court without the drama clouding it.

I think part of the issue is the staff doesn’t (and shouldn’t imo) get the benefit of the doubt when things like this are going on. There has been a lot of drama with Self teams. Fair or not. Hopefully DP plays again soon.

They need to just formalize that it’s pro sports and start signing contracts. It is what it is at this point

This defense is pathetic. Changes have to be made there this offseason. Either buy the players needed for the scheme or get a different coordinator

In good years, Bill has a guy off the bench that can be that instant offense/3-point threat. BG, JCL, Moss, and Vick come to mind.

My last hope for this bunch is that some development will still occur as the season goes on. I think Rosario, Council and Dawson can all improve as they adjust to the speed of P5 basketball.

There is no reason Council can’t be an efficient 10 ppg just from fast break and straight line drives. He has to stop with the dumb 3s though. The guy absolutely cannot shoot.

Rosario seems like a guy who may find his stroke by the end of the season. He’s shooting .292 right now, and his misses are WAY off. I assume that a good part of that is just speed of the game and that by January he may settle in a little.

Dawson is shooting .263 from deep and is a career .363 shooter. I expect the ball to start going in. I, personally, think he has looked more playable the last couple of games and am hopeful he gets into a groove.

Unfortunately, this feels more like the '20-'21 season to me before the '21-'22 season. I think if you can get back Flory, Tiller and Rosario for '26-'27 you can probably build a really good roster around them. I think the incoming freshman class can be your depth. They will need to add a top tier PG through the Portal.

Kudos to those that watched til the end. Sounds like they gave what they got but couldn’t execute in the last 5 minutes. Foul Trouble in the front court is a major issue. The refs sucked but this is not a disciplined team when it comes to fouls.

Tiller has fouled out in both games against P4 competition. Flory has 3 or more fouls in all but 1 game so far and makes a lot of careless fouls that take him out of the game.

It sure looks like we only have 7 players if we ever get Peterson back. Elmarko and Mari are unplayable imo. Neither has developed a lick here.

Peter Danyliv was better for our guys than we thought… Big mistake from the program letting him get away from Lawrence.

Positives:

• Self didn’t play Elmarko much even without DP. So he sees he sucks the same way we all do.

• McDowell same

• Council and White had some really nice stretches

• Flory is a stud when he isn’t in foul trouble

Welp thats gonna do it. We don’t get DP back and it will be a very, very long season.

I do hate a moral victory but have to love the fight from these guys. I thought I would have turned the game off already. Some grit

Council, White and Flory gotta play every minute the rest of the way. And probably Tiller.

No idea who should be the 5th guy and I’m not sure it matters

I’m half convinced we are better off just holding the ball to a shot clock violation every possession the rest of the way to just limp into half

New game plan is just let Tre cook when Flory is out. Rest of the guards are useless on that end

Not sure we can keep doubling. But I don’t know if we can guard Boozer without fouling

Normally the bias doesn’t bother me but Jay extra Dukie tonight. Still don’t understand how they let him call games for his Alma mater.

Besides physical attributes my only complaint with him is he doesn’t just play a role. If he would only shoot wide open threes, iniate the offense when necessary and otherwise pass the ball basically the rest of the time there would definitely be a role for him

Would have to say that Elmarko ain’t it. Dawson looks like he doesn’t fit. McDowell is meh.

But if you want something more up to date, DP is leading betting odds at +120 to go #1. Dybantsa is +190 and Boozer is +240. That’s on Draftkings rn.

Nobody else is better than 100 to 1 odds.

DP isn’t getting picked top 5 regardless of his injury issues. This freshman class is very stout. I’d guess he goes 8-12 at this point. He’s definitely not the best freshman in CBB this year.

I don’t see a mock that doesn’t have him going top 2. He’s been everything thought and more. He’s a top 5 pick.

Alright relax. This sucked. This season didn’t go how it should have. Definitely underperformed for our talent.

The players lost this game though don’t get me wrong. The dropped picks are the game changer.

You are allowed to criticize decisions. Many things can be true. He got the program out of the gutter, but he takes the ball out of the offenses hands with the game on the line too much.

YES. Mizzou game was the same. Can’t remember if Cincy we blew it by not being aggressive either.

You have to get a defensive stop no matter what. Go for it and get it you win. Don’t get it and you’re only slightly worse off than kicking a FG that you MAKE.

@Zabudda I’m definitely surprised by his pro career. He’s been a good journeyman. I wonder what his college career would have been like if he played somewhere not as team-oriented style of play as KU. If he had played for a not blue blood that let him shoot without abandon I bet his college numbers would have been insane. 15ppg his final year here, but I bet that is 20ppg somewhere else.

Lots of guys from KU in the pros this year, but seemingly some taking their swan song. Not sure why Och and Grady’s minutes are limited in Toronto, but they are. Wilson doing about the same with the Nets. Embiid’s production is waning as is Higgins…or is it Wiggins? Oubre and Grimes are still productive pro’s but I am way more impressed by grinders who hung around KU and made a name here for themselves like SVI. He scored 28 tonight for Utah!! Ingram taking up a lot of minutes that would have gone to Ochai and Dick last year. Can’t say that’s the wrong decision, but it does suck for those two guys.
