@DCHawker said in 6/14 SCRIMMAGE STATS: What stands out to me is that the team with 3 key freshmen and just one starter held their own against the team with 3-4 likely starters. I can almost guarantee our starters were cakewalking.

@approxinfinity said in Has Bill Self seen aliens?: I wonder if anyone has plotted what the stars would look like from a foreign world and made up that worlds constellations, including our sun. All you need is a 3D star map that can be manipulated to put youurself anywhere in the map. Once the star location data is created, shifing perpective and reducing it to 2D should ne easy. I don’t know if anyone has invented constellations from those views, though! Cool idea…create a different world’s mythology! This generator (for creating game backgrounds, I guess) looks like it might be able to do it: https://www.profantasy.com/products/cos3_summary.asp I’m sure cosmologists have numerous tools to do it. It would be vital for interstellar navigation. I remember Star Trek (Voyager?) episodes where they had to figure out where they were after going through wormholes, and they used a (CGI) hologram to simulate the galaxy.

I was hiking through Zion National Forest on Saturday and another hiker passed by and said “You’re going to love Hunter Dickinison”. It took me a minute to figure out why he said that to me - until I looked down at my hoodie with the giant Jayhawk on the front of it.

What is the issue with this portal season? We appear to be putting all our cards on a couple of players, without any clear indication we will land them. Some on this thread seemed to think Ingram was a done deal for example. Count me old school, but I like high character players who will well represent KU. I don’t care whether he has skills, but I’m a hard no on Morris, and am disappointed that he is even a target. Would have been fine with Ingram as a JWill/McCullar hybrid replacement, but that ship has sailed. Not really a fan of going after Dickinson, notwithstanding his obvious skills. Issues and means less development for the current bigs. Having watched Spears in person, not really interested in him other than as a bench option - not efficient, doesn’t make others better and doesn’t play much defense. Fine with Timberlake, but more as a bench option than starter. Think Tyson would be a good fit - McCullar 2.0 - but looks like that may be going a different direction. Am I alone in not wanting to go down the prima donna / problem child path? Nothing good has come of those recruits before now…

@bskeet said in Is this our true rebuild year?: @jayballer67 said in Is this our true rebuild year?: @Jethro said in Is this our true rebuild year?: Having so many newbies makes me think unless we portal pull amazingly well, we could be in for a rebuild. For us, that means NCAA tournament w/o winning the B12. Have hard times come upon us? Could we be an actual “bubble” team? Or do we slay the portal, and are back in the Top 5? Bill seems to think Top 5…do you agree? Well evidently some other people either know things we don’t - -OR they just reaching - -I mean really reaching -cause I read ANOTHER article last night people making their predictions for next year and they had KU as 15-1 to win the Championship - this is the 2nd article I’ve read where they have picked us to win or get to the final four. - Of course like they say a lot is on who we have returning-- -who we got coming in & then the Portal but they are saying with the names we are connected to in the portal is huge With all of the vacancies on the team, these high pre-season rankings are fool’s gold and everyone should know it if you’re being honest and objective. The pundits’ projections are almost exclusively based on coach Bill Self, his history of success and his emerging position as Alpha among all coaches. Yes, KU Basketball is now the recipient of the same ranking inflation that Duke received when Coach K was there. It wouldn’t be like this if Jay Wright had stayed another year or two, but his departure and UK/Cal’s recent performance woes have created a vacuum in basketball coaching that hasn’t been seen since Wooden retired. Bill Self is The Man… and this year’s early tourney exit didn’t tarnish him… it possibly enhanced him due to his absence in the post-season. The uncertainty of what the final version of the roster will look like does mean a lot of people are guessing. This is also why there’s a bit of a discrepancy in where KU is ranked. Some have KU as a top 5, some have KU in the 15-20 range. I also think with this many new faces, there’s likely to be a bit of a learning curve with this team as they learn to play together and with what we already know about KU’s schedule next season with UConn, Missouri, and an absolutely stacked Maui field, it’s conceivable for KU to have 3-4 losses entering B12 play next season as the team learns to play together.

Saw something new from Rice in the Texas game as when he was called for a charge and, questionable at that, he just exploded to the rim and slammed it in protest. The fire is there but it’s masked by him.

Interesting theory. Well presented. That would be a huge city - least plausible part of his theory. Just needs to prove it with something tangible now. - something carved in stone or metal would still exist somewhere under the proposed debris field.

@approxinfinity said in Dook Game Thread: After rewatching that game i just am in awe of Jalen and Dajuans composure. Yes Grady had a brilliant sequence and looked like a senior during that stretch, but how lucky are we to have two returning champions who believe in our potential this year and appear ready to lead us there? These guys arent the left overs from a championship run. These guys are made men. HARD warriors! Championship DNA
