Excited for the tournament, but always looking ahead…
I was so impressed with Newman, not just his offense, but his defense and “right place, right timeness”- while I thought he would probably come back, I wonder…
If he plays that way through the Tourney- does he slip into the first round, or do NBA teams want to see him be conisistent for a year?
If he and Dok are both back- holy smokes.
I am not a regular poster, but I am pretty sure Jaybate is just enjoying the Jayhawks and the conversation around their basketball team. I don’t read all of his stuff, or anyone elses- sometimes his are just too long… I enjoy the conversations overall from everyone. I don’t even pay that much attention to who is posting.
Kinda silly, in my opinion, to judge anyone here. I think it is supposed to be fun.
Back to Ku BB- I think we beat WV, as much as it pains me- lose to Kentucky- Win the most important game of the 4 for B12 championship-Baylor- and I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose to KState at their place. Tough four games. Should be fun to watch.
As far as basketball playing goes- in my opinion- as much as I loved watching Wigs, and love watching his pro game, I think JJack appears to me more engaged in the college game while he is after all, here playing it. He is a driving force towards victory even with other more senior players around him. He still shows up ready to be dominant. He doesn’t wait for his turn.
The other stuff, When it is violent, I have a strong opinion. When I have no facts, I tend to wait and see. I know that people make mistakes, and sometimes just being in the wrong place/wrong time looks bad. When I don’t know- I try not to comment. I can comment later after we all know details.
I think the mix tape shows his skills inside the 3-point line. Really all of his best moments besides vs Mich St. game have been inside the 3 pt line. If I made a list of players that should focus on the rest of their game, then look for the 3:
I do think Grimes is big-time and will eventually get it rolling. And I have nothing against Charlie, but his shot looks quick, short and off from the get go, it kinda looks like nerves or ??? I’m not a coach, I just wish he would stop after 3 misses. Not on track today, so drive and dish. I really think Grimes could average close to 4 assists a game.
Agree Moss was excellent, better than he played last year at Iowa, scoring or not, his play is vet+
Dave has shown way more offensive potential and defensive activity than Silvio so far. I am HUGE Silvio fan and if he, Dave and Mitch are Manning the post next year, I am happy as a clam-
Don’t discount the 17 footer- not making comparison- but Kawhi lives in the mid-range, Westbrook is learning that making 50+ inside the 3 is better than missing 77.5% outside the 3.
I really agree with Bill Self’s quote from the presser. (I will paraphrase)- No one is holding back info, it isn’t our job to report on a police investigation. If there was something more to it that we could report we would. Kids/Young adults make mistakes- as we all do, they are just doing it more frequently and closer to the edge than they will in a few years. Normal.
If someone does something that crosses the line- hawk or not, pay the price. Until then- I would rather talk about the game on Saturday.

I hope for a fun run! Final Four would be awesome. I know the Elite 8 games are stressful, it feels so different if we get the extra week to feel connected to our team.
Also Big Dave could use some flexibility training.

6-2, losses come early, Big regroup- big finish! They always have that one scary moment before the finish the climb. The tournament is always a crap shoot, but like always we have a shot. I really think our bigs need to find a way to contribute more. It stills looks like they are figuring out a simple thing. Rebound and react. Defend and distribute. Be what some of our nonscoring wings used to do pre wigs, oubre, etc. Facilitate action.
Refs are amped. Such a weird call on Frank. Call it tight both ways? Boring game. Let them play!

Never assume one person is covering the tab. Especially with a big group, set the ground rules (agreed- I am sure Bar Louie has a policy especially that late at night), collect the CC and all is good. Every bar I worked at did that late night. I know it is unfortunate for the server, lesson learned. Late night bar tabs with people drinking requires that you manage the heck out of those groups. Part of the deal. But whoever left without paying is clearly an A-hole.
Super excited they are streaming it though! Can’t wait! And perfect timing with no Chiefs game. I need my reasons/excuses for blowing off house work.
I think Graham can be 80% of him, while the rest of our team is 135% of theirs. Not worried about OK.

I agree that Mitch is playing better and I thought that was easily de Sousa’s best game. Maybe Garrett’s too.
Vick is still in a bit of a funk but not a negative. Graham missed a ton of drive/finish shots, seemed pretty off the last two games, likely fatigue.
Newman continues his upswing.
I don’t know our destiny this year. We could get on a roll and easily make the final four. We could bow out to a bad matchup. But if Graham, Svi, Newman and Vick get going in March at the same time… nobody is better. (I realize that could be said about several teams, but I think we have 3.5 alpha dogs- all clicking- could be fun.)

I am mostly a reader on this sight, so I agree with @jayballer73, I am excited for the season to get here and the posts of the regulars to increase in volume.
Youtube good, PSVue good- maybe others, no experience. The equipment requires- The tv you already have and the computer you already have and the phone you already have- you don’t need all- but they work on all.
Cable companies… $$$$$$$$$$$, DirecTV is fine unless the wind blows, the sun shines or god forbid there is a gentle mist in the air.

I really want to win this game. I fell asleep at WV halftime, missed the second half, so I feel like we are still on winning streak.
He is a big strong kid with all the upside he has ever had. In my opinion, he needs to calm down and accept a role that he can build on. Last year he played a part of the whole. This year on the court he doesn’t seem connected. Body is ready. Maturity may be in question, but no more or less than other college students. Don’t judge him against the most or least responsible kids/young adults. Just the regular ones.
I see great potential. My gut says, he will figure it out. Self will guide him, he will listen. This year or next basketball wise would be great for me as a fan. As a person, I hope he sticks with it until he gets it. More important than any game.
My favorite part is the bearded italian dancers. Totally worth the 30 bucks! And Newman is the real deal.
Weird to think, 3 starters for next year are on the roster and won’t play a minute this year.
I thought it was odd too, but exhibition… who knows. I thougth Moore would be better than he seems so far, probably an unfair judge- I assume he will improve quite a bit by next year.

It feels like the Baseball Steroid scandal, everyone knew it was happening and suddenly there was a problem with it. Weird, obvious and landscape changing… for a minute… eventually the cheaters adjust faster than the laws/enforcement.
I predict Dok won’t foul out- I think with it being an exhibition someone said they had 7 fouls instead of 5. No idea if that is true.
I predict Porter goes for 20- he is just plain polished for his age.

Is Svi the glue guy that never knew where to stick? I love Svi, just seems overlooked by the roster. I really hope he has a great year, that might mean rebounds, threes and defense.
