@Kcmatt7 Newbie here. Thanks for lifting up Sunday spirit here. After watching the game again, I really like the combo tower HD & FB - hoping coach can make the best use of them from hereon. This could be the best combo centers in the nation. Imagine HD can use his soft touch plus another option to throw high pass just like what we saw yesterday, or seal for FB to finish strong off of a feed from any guards. We will be unstoppable if Harris can keep making 3s, helping others to score. I don’t think Storr is as good as advertised/was in Wisc. Been watching this site for a while and love what y’all have here. Appreciate the info, learning, useful insights for other Hawks fans here.

RE: Zeke Mayo
Gotta bump this thread because this kid is the reason KU games are still must-watch for me!
He’s a wizard at PG, pulling off every trick in the book to score or set up easy buckets. Head fakes, shot fakes, stepback 3s, sidestep 3s—you name it, he’s got it. He’s got almost the full offensive bag every PG dreams of having, and that’s why I can’t stop watching this team!

RE: Bu Ku
@Kcmatt7 I’m interested in post-game press… somebody’s gotta ask this, pretty sure

RE: Bounceback night What a sight
Great needed win! And no, we didn’t blow 19pts lead… lol Flory - 15 minutes and 4 rebounds and 4 points, 4 Blks, 1 STL, 50% FG… he’s being sabotaged, again. You got high motor, athletic ~7 footer, but noone threw him lobs. 2 touches. 2 freakin touches for the whole 15 mins on offense. He’s the team’s alpha dog from now on. He just needs to show a bit of emotion. Damn cold assassin.

RE: Bounceback night What a sight
@Crimsonorblue22 Nice one! I think Juando deserves himself a dedicated post highlighting that crazy maneuver diving in, stealing, and passing the ball clean. Hats off to him - plus he scored more buckets than usual!

RE: If Bill’s roster falls apart…
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this—just look at this dude!
Flo lives to rack up points! He’s a blocking machine, crashes the boards like a pro…
So why isn’t he getting more touches? Does the coach believe in him? Do his teammates trust him to deliver?
He’s a STRIKER. FLO LOVES TO PUT BALLS IN THE NETS. LET HIM COOK!

RE: If Bill’s roster falls apart…
I don’t care if everyone else is leaving, but Flo must not go.
Can you imagine him and Sammy, DP kicking everybody’s arses! I’m keeping my hopes up.

RE: Ute came to the right place
HD looks less athletic even against the least athletic team in B12.
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
Team interprets “winning ugly” literally, night in night out
-
RE: The rest of the season
@rockchalkjayhawk either that or other teams have gotten better and other coaches knew how to beat us.

RE: Lets take the lead into the first TV timeout!
I watched the replay, hoping to see some improvement from their last meeting. Boy, I tell you what, Diggy might be the smallest on the court, but he’s got the biggest balls. We played a bit tougher D against their bigs in the paint, losing by a single digit against a very strong & athletic team like Houston didn’t look that bad. Offense wise, you can tell team doesn’t practice enough throwing lobs, they look panicking (UH’s disruptive D) - you can tell our guards don’t seem comfortable. Harris, couldn’t agree more with some here, is the worst PG in top-25, KU’s school history. Cryer made him looks like a D2 PG. I’m looking forward team to pass quality passes instead of desperation passes. 40 vs 70 attempts say it all. FB played 17 minutes only got 1 FG. That’s a really pathetic offense.

RE: Lets take the lead into the first TV timeout!
@rockchalkjayhawk 20 TOs might be the worst this season. But that’s expected the way BS’ runs lousy offense.

RE: Interesting Rumor/Note
“This is the first time it has crossed my mind. I actually hope to do it a while longer. Times are different. I used to look at it, and I got a dear friend who talked to me about this all the time. You kind of look at life in five-year increments. I’m not sure it’s five years anymore. Maybe two or three. And then, you decide what you do after those increments. I don’t know how you guys look at it, but that’s not anything I’ve spent any time one. I like our team and I’m very excited about a recruiting class moving forward. I don’t have the answer, but I know that I’m just in the back nine. I don’t know if I’m on 13 or 16, but I’m not on 18.”

RE: My crisis of faith in Bill
@approxinfinity I’d like to hear from journalists (Newell?) asking coach, too (…maybe he was caught up in thinking Hunter and Flory couldnt play together) - lol… KJ’s on sideline has brought some light to the darkness in KUMBB, IMHO. Let’s hope coach will find the right formula going forward, we’re pretty darned close. Hopefully, FB’s 19pts against top dog Cougars gave enough testament to coach that he’s grown up, he’s ready to bring this team to the next level.

RE: Interesting Rumor/Note
@SlimShaddy54 you meant next year’s or next years’? i can’t wait that long, man…
-
RE: My crisis of faith in Bill
@approxinfinity Sounds like coach should consider playing HD, FB, KJ plus Harris & Zeke/Shak. At anytime 2 or all of those 3 must stay throughout the game. Yep, FB should play 75% out of the 3’s PT (I doubt though, knowing coach Self). I believe we’ll be able to compete in FF comes March.

RE: Bu Ku
We’ve got lottery pick in Flory. He’s line today: 1 block, 1 steal, 1 FG (from the steal). Something’s amiss… How can we not utilize a lottery pick on offense? It’s mind boggling. We’ve got height advantage in HD & FB, but 22 3s tell us, coach really need to ramp up his offense. Oh, and rebounds. We got outrebounded so bad. I guess both defense & offense need to get better in a hurry.

RE: House of The Stubborn Coach
@approxinfinity THIS: As others have said, I think Coach’s staff appears to have some issues.

RE: Oh how I hate Kansas State.
What if… I said again What if, BS completely adopts runner & gunner team or at least try one season. Just one season, when he won’t need to rely so much on a PG or two. Draft only those who’s got length, athleticism, ball handling skills - don’t have to be prolific 3pt shooters, but the prior skill set is a must. We’ve got Marko, DP, Calderon, Kease, Rylo with those characteristics plus benchers like Storr, Tiller. If FB stays, great. I think we’ve got ourselves a run-gun A team next season. Plus, God forbid, BS’ recruiting staff doesn’t screw up, we can get 1-2 like DeVries or Ballo that’d be heaven. I imagined FB would be molded by BS turning to someone like Ballo, but boy… reality bites.

RE: If Bill’s roster falls apart…
I wonder if a good ol’ student protest would shake things up here—maybe with some catchy chants like, “No Trophy, No Tenure!” This feels like another wild what-if scenario. Honestly, there are probably a ton of colleges out there with a “win or walk” contract: if the head coach doesn’t haul in a national championship within eight years or at least crash two Final Fours, he’s getting the boot. No pressure, coach!
-
RE: Oh how I hate Kansas State.
@SlimShaddy54 SOS wise, we look so much tougher even getting beat-up by #60. lol
-
RE: Oh how I hate Kansas State.
@SlimShaddy54 #100 and won ugly… but it’s a good confidence building for the team and HC. Team will win double digits again against the Yutees before getting drained by BYU’s 3s. I really want to see Flory deployed on the perimeter. That’s the only answer to guard those 3s.

RE: If Bill’s roster falls apart…
@kuballin10 LOL “…no Bill ur analytics department needs to be fired” - he needs to start using Deepsheeet - AI-powered Sports Analyst.
-
RE: If Bill’s roster falls apart…
@approxinfinity Definitely! And, i’m not gonna lie lol… you make me learn more than just caring about KU bball! Thanks!
-
RE: Wait, KU is playing?
@Texas-Hawk-10 Muchas gracias, senor. That explains it. I hope he’d find something to make ends meet for fam.

RE: Ute came to the right place
@DanR as long as it’s not another Timberfake
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
this is what happens when Mayo only attempted a couple of shots. we need him to score.
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
@wissox SOS wise, we’re still up there. something coach to be proud of, at least.
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
at least i can still laugh - thanks fellas… lolz
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
I don’t know what in Zeke’s mind was when he decided to transfer to KU. He’s used to Bama’s run-gun now he’s got to play BS way - IMHO that’s one of the reasons these transfers didn’t seem to fit in. They’re not used to sloooow offense.
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
i don’t get why low bounce pass to a center!
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
That’s why I always value kids who dunk given the ability…
-
RE: Ute came to the right place
@approxinfinity get your popcorn ready, folks
-
RE: Lets go 3-0 on the new season
I don’t get why team doesn’t throw it to Flory - he’s got a good seal in the paint on so many occassions.
