I’ve had ESPN plus for about 5 years and I have no idea how I’m paying for it. No Disney bundle. Doesn’t show up on my credit card statement. Can’t cancel it or change payment method. I literally can’t do anything but sign in with my email and password. So I’m not rocking the boat. Good luck!

RE: Jayhawks vs. Roll Tiges Threadposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
My 2 cents:
I’m liking a couple of the young guys. Mbiya either seems to be in control and not sped up like a lot of frosh bigs… or he’s just slow. He’s got tallness at least.
Rosario could be something. Seems to know the game. Good court awareness… looks like a good teammate too, so… glue guy maybe. Stache for bonus points.
Elmarko is still an enigma. Mickey D and still seems to make bonehead plays and has weak handles. I hope I’m wrong and he’s just off and rusty.
edited to add: I don’t really care about the transfers. I’m sure they are fine.

This game has a bad feel. No reason given for Peterson skipping?

4 guys open and throws an uncatchabke pass to the one guy covered

Ok. Strong final drive. No bonehead mistakes second half, please.

Wearing JD out might calm him down enough to start playing with more clarity

Score here and receive to start second half. Def not out of it

RE: Kansas State hateposted in KU Football / Other NCAAF
I’m going out on a limb and predict Daniels will finally successfully throw an interception on this drive. So he can cash in on whatever bet he put down on.

RE: Kansas State hateposted in KU Football / Other NCAAF
Basketball not going great either. I got to a bar last night in time to watch 30 fouls called in the last 8 minutes.

RE: Kansas State hateposted in KU Football / Other NCAAF
I’m ready to see Daniels sit for a series. Literally hasn’t made a good throw or decision in this game.

Well, I guess it’s not streaming for me. See you all when the season starts.

Is it still halftime? I just realized it was streaming…but ESPN hasn’t shown anything but a still screen with team logos. I missed the first half.

Wow. I enjoyed that game! JD wasn’t perfect, but he’s fun to watch when the coaches let him run.

How many offensive plays did KU run in the 2nd quarter? The one?

@wissox have to have possession to advance. Maybe you can tap it with your hand, but you can’t kick it and then run and jump on it for sure

RE: 2025 Chiefsposted in KC Chiefs / Other NFL
Taylor has to be the stupidest or deafest lineman in history. Jumps EVERY play. Only called when it matters. Why do coaches put up with that nonsense?

RE: Kansas vs. Wagnerposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I missed the first game, so this is my first impression… seem a little slow and small on D which could be a big problem. Nothing magical on special teams. Offense has some weapons, so we should be able to compete against about anyone. Should be fun. Glad the home games are back in Lawrence. The town had a good vibe today!

I feel like we’re just running plays to set up Mizzou at this point

Daniels throws better when he’s not flying backwards unnecessarily

It actually makes some sense. One more situation in a long list of unintended consequences from the NCAA by opening up the NIL without any sort of plan or rules.

RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I’m glad to see some jayhawk bloodline and history on the team. None of these current players are going to know crap about Jacque, but I think he’ll give it his best shot.
btw, I’ve probably mentioned it a few hundred times, but my wife taught Jacque (great student) and BJ Thomas (punctual, but not great) in English 101 back when she was working on her PhD at KU in the 90s.

Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Interesting. Probably a good choice to replace Norm.
KC Star…
Will KU Jayhawks great Vaughn join Bill Self’s coaching staff?'
He visited Tuesday
By Gary Bedore Updated May 7, 2025 4:51 PM
Former Kansas basketball point guard Jacque Vaughn, who coached the NBA’s Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets after his 12 years as a player in the league, was in Lawrence Tuesday to visit with Jayhawks head coach Bill Self about possibly filling the opening on KU’s coaching staff, The Star has learned. Vaughn, 50, who played at KU for four seasons (1993-94 through 96-97) and had his jersey No. 11 hung in the Allen Fieldhouse rafters on Dec. 31, 2002, met with Self and visited with staff members about perhaps becoming the replacement for Norm Roberts, who announced his retirement Monday after 14 seasons at KU and 37 total years in the business. A source close to the KU program told The Star that Vaughn would be a valuable addition to KU because of his vast knowledge of the NBA and NBA style of play. As a former standout point guard in both the pros and college, he also could speed the developmental progress of incoming point guard sensation Darryn Peterson, who is expected to start from day one at KU.

@nuleafjhawk said in Hot Take: We Overvalue our own players:
"Kansas, the preseason No. 1 team in the nation, lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the round of 64, becoming the second team in college basketball history to lose in the first round after beginning the season atop the rankings. The other team to suffer that fate was the 2005 Kansas squad. "
We have some work to do.
True, but there was preseason #1 who didn’t make the tournament at all. Looking at you, NC, the year after we beat yo ass down 15 at the half.

RE: The portal.posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
The one thing the portal has definitely exposed is the self-aggrandizing egos some of these average players have. They ALL bolt, and programs are stuck trying to build teams around a bunch of selfish quitters instead of those chuds staying where they probably fit into a thought-out balanced roster originally.
I need to back away from this for a while. I’m just intensely irritated by the way this has played out for the past decade with Selby/Alexander/Silvio etc. and all that nothingness. There is no purpose for the NCAA at this point, and they brought it on themselves.
Jaybate… I’m probably heading to where you are (assuming you are still alive and happy). You were right.
-
RE: The portal.posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Clearly the transfer portal and the NIL are not working. It sucks and has ruined college sports. I honestly have no issue with either the idea of the NIL or the portal but in tandem there have to be contracts and commitments and all the stuff that goes along with every other (professional) sports leagues. That goes for both the schools/businesses and the students/employees.
Want to commit to a school as a frosh? 1 year commitment like the old signing days. (I’d prefer 2, but at least this keeps rosters in check)
Transfer as a soph/junior … 2-year contract to whichever school. They have to keep you and pay you. No one year hopping around BS. Leave early and you sit a year.
Transfer as a senior. Sky is the limit.
That would at least settle stuff down for building teams 1-2 years. For the fans, you know.

RE: RIP Bob Davisposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I just heard this news too. Kind of hit me hard.
A year ago, I moved my mom into assisted living at Pioneer Ridge in Lawrence. She was only there about two months before she passed (inoperable cancer), but during that stretch I spent a lot of time there. There were a few residents who sort of hung out in the main lobby area most of the day, and I sat and chatted with them all the time…including one cheerful guy who introduced himself as Bob. “Bob, with one O.” ha ha.
His voice was Kansas-ish familiar but not like his radio voice and he seemed taller and face was thinner than I remembered, but it was good ol’ Bob Davis. I found out by asking someone who knew him (not at the facility) that he was there living with his wife, who had Parkinson’s. For about a month and a half I talked to him like he was just “Bob the Greeter” because I figured maybe he got tired of talking about the KU sports gig with anyone and everyone who met him. Always wore blue KU golf shirts. Liked to exchange bad jokes, so I tried to have one ready.
Toward the end (while my mom was in hospice care), I was taking a break while she slept, wandered down to the lobby, and sat down to catch up on some work. Bob appeared from down the hall and sat next to me, and we had the only serious conversation we would have. He asked why I was there so often, and I told him what was going on. I asked him where he grew up and how he ended up in Lawrence, and he told me his whole life long story from Iola, KS, to Fort Hays State to Lawrence. We agreed that, looking back, it was sort of wild to end up where we were. So, at that point I finally thanked him for giving me and us KU fans such great memories for so many years.
His wife, Linda, just died last week on the 13th. I was wondering how he was doing. Thought about checking in many times in the past year… but, that’s about the best memory I have of the place.
