Think we were run out of our gym last year by Kentucky, and my guess is many thought the sky was falling. Throughout the season many were negative towards Big Dave and different aspects of the team. A loss like yesterday hurts our pride, but I’m sure Coach Self will use it to bring about a great deal of improvement in a variety of ways.

Is the negative attention nationwide or only on this site? I would guess that many of the kids playing college sports come with some kind of risk. I would also. think that when a court decision is made then a decision will be made on his playing or not. Let’s not be judge, jury and executioners since we know only what the media has chosen to give us.

Wasn’t attempting to compare him to Frank, and I don’t think a leader needs to be a beast offensively. Interesting how some were ready to clear a space for new title trophy and banner a few months back, but after two exhibition games are bashing almost every. player.

Seems almost all of us are pulling for Dave and Wilson to put things together. Dave has definitely had a few good minutes but certainly not very many. It has to frustrate the other players when he misses point blank shots or loses the handle. In my opinion Wilson at this time does not fit at all with the team. He seems to have little connection to the others who seem to try all they can to pick him up.

@kuballin10 Certainly wasn’t ignoring the fact that the game was played in AFH. Simply stating that KU had the ability to play at a championship level when you consider who all we beat this year. Something definitely was lacking when we went on the road. In our world today, it seems too many people quickly jump on the bandwagon (whether it’s positive or negative). Look at the Chiefs. Everyone bashing them until they finally figured out it was ok for the defense to be the leader. It would be interesting to go back and look at comments earlier in the season after the big wins.

I would think if he’s not playing that he’s already decided on the option he plans to take. I understand the worry of an injury but wasn’t that possible every game during the season. Our sense of loyalty (to team, teammates, school, etc.) seems to have disappeared over the years.

Definitely not down on Gradey but not sure what legacy you’re looking at. Because he is a freshman, his immaturity at this level has certainly shown this year through his inconsistency. Those that have been mentioned stuck with it through 2,3,4 or 5 years and continually improved. Several went on to successful. pro careers after risking injury while playing. I see the risk of playing another year as advantageous to his future because it will allow him the opportunity to become a stronger player in a variety of ways. Right. now he is a streaky shooter, kind of how Remy was last year.

@BeddieKU23 Don’t know that college ball is down as much as the number of players who have switched programs has created so many roster changes. This in turn creates a lack of cohesiveness at times for even the better teams. When a team has 5 or more players who have been together for 2 or more years, they know one another’s moves and fit together better.

A6 and B6 leave the bench because a fight has broken out. A6 and B6 do not participate in the fight. RULING: A6 and B6 shall be ejected. No free-throw penalties or technical fouls shall be assessed to A6 and B6 or the coaches of Team A and Team B. And the NCAA Rule Book talks about suspensions for being involved in the fight in Rule 10-5: Art. 11. @jayballer73 No one knows except those in the NCAA offices. One would hope that those in power would use common sense and realize that a coach cannot be in control of every players’ actions and behaviors at all times. Too many instances of players losing control of their emotions for the NCAA to label all coaches as not having institutional control.

@Crimsonorblue22 We have not played even close to how we played much earlier in the season. We have won close games which is great, but it is concerning with March here. And even more concerning the way our scorers are not scoring consistently. Right now Gradey cannot be counted on as a threat. Something is definitely off; certainly does not look like a lottery pick the past two games. It was as if the team treated today like a scrimmage, but Texas realized that it was a game.

@jayballer67 To take it one step further, we really have no one who has been consistent for some time now. Jalen is our closest, but he has had some rough games lately. Juan is superb when/if he is aggressive. I really believe that we can win every game before it starts. IF/when we play like there is no tomorrow, no team can stay with us. Not sure where the button to push is located, but sure hope Coach Self has it ready.

@stoptheflop Before Remi started his hot streak last year off the bench, what kind. of production did we get from the bench? It’s almost like our bench players really aren’t expected to score since the starting five pretty well takes care of that. It would be a real bonus if they did, but none other than Joe look to score. As long as they can play good defense and either score a few or create opportunities for starters to score, I’m ok with that.

@dylans 21+year old is quite different than an 18-19 year old in many ways. I understand that Bobby Knight while at Indiana worked with a sports psychologist to develop a test that was then given to a kid before Knight would recruit him. This helped determine whether or not the kid would be able to function under him. Probably wasn’t fool proof but it probably saved some problems over the years.

Many interesting and some valid points have been raised. It’s so easy to look for mistakes, issues, etc. in coaches and players, especially when we certainly have been spoiled throughout the years. Chemistry is such a huge part of any team; this team right now doesn’t seem to have tons of it. Also seem to be similar to the past couple years in that we’re not very mentally or physically tough. Hard to believe that no one has brought up how bad David McCormick was several years ago and how HCBS protected him. Too soft to be a big winner. Seem to recall Remy was not too highly thought of either for a good part of the year.

@SlimShaddy54 Good point. A true leader will not only take control of things but will not be afraid to get in a teammate’s face (literally &/or figuratively). I definitely do not see that attribute. Easy to talk a good game and leadership but extremely difficult to actually do it.
