Posting for @approxinfinity and other Flory enjoyers
@rockchalkjayhawk Not KJ. Presumably Tre White can dribble a basketball, rebound, and is a threat to shoot.
So it was mostly a joke about KJ being terrible.
@dylans Misleading headline in a sense. The 28 million is from two national deals. Including the entire 5 year length of his New Balance deal and his Fanatics deal. None of that was from Duke.
@dylans Houston runs the big 12, they are what we used to be. Not sure why Bill has seemingly given up on trying to develop guys.
That said I think when the roster is done it will be preseason top 10.
Something else I am monitoring is team chemistry. Winning kind of solves everything there sometimes, but last year was a disaster on that front.
I don’t think this team is likely to win a title at all but you could argue they are getting better at every position from last year. Most spots are clear upgrades. Generational upgrades at the 1 and 4.
More than anything I am excited for the stylistic change. The last two seasons, by Bill’s choice it must be said, we have been limited by a core of players that simply did not fit together. The team should be a monster defensively if they buy in.
@Kcmatt7 this is why the potential House settlement is so interesting
KU is building a football stadium and it is very expensive
@drgnslayr Tyshawn Taylor for sure. He decommitted from Marquette after a coaching change.
Frank and Graham both decommitted to take a prep year to try to improve their college landing spot.
@mayjay thank you for all the kind words. I thankfully have experience dealing with collection agencies and the like already so that was not a new experience. The key is being tenacious and knowing your rights. Not everyone does of course. I also gained experience with the medical system helping mom navigate it when my dad was going through things before passing in 2017. My apologies to jaybate again even if he never sees this. I unfairly took out some frustrations on him in our exchanges here at that time. Part of being more offline was not wanting to lash out at anyone like that again.

@BShark ugh, that’s a lot to deal with. I’m sure you brother is grateful for the help. Here’s to smooth sailing from here on out — for all of us!
Yeah he has been very grateful and is in all around good spirits considering everything

I’ve been battling with digestive issues this last year after surgery, with persistent low-grade indeterminate back/chest pain that was driving me nuts, leading to a battery of tests (I now know every unrelated thing thats wrong with me internally, which is good). Last week, the GI told me to take 7 doses of Miralax 2 days in a row (and no, I wasnt really “backed up” prior), and suddenly, zero pain. Because the lack of pain/sensation is so noticeable after a year of it, it’s both unnerving and exhilarating.
We definitely need to enjoy our good health while we have it!
Bananas and peanuts helped my digestion tremendously. I know you have it solved now, but some advice for anyone.
Best of luck navigating the health care system! We’re trying to get my dad to the correct doctors. 2-3 weeks per inconclusive test and he’s in excruciating nerve pain. I’m ready to create doctor patients to see how they like being treated the same. Total BS
A friend of mine had a long saga like this. Not nerve pain but was to do with his breathing etc Ultimately the doctors never did shit and some advice from his dad helped more. Of course, racked up big bills throughout that useless process.
The double standard is tremendous in all of this. My brother had an appointment for an optional surgery. Was set for roughly 10 am if memory serves maybe slightly earlier. Just kept getting later and later so eventually had to keep pressing the receptionist to try and get answers. Then they were flabbergasted when we left at 2pm… Of course he hadn’t eaten anything in well over a day at that point as was required for the surgery. RAHRAHRAHRHRHRRR grrrr

Clean scans is awesome though!!
There needs to be some kind of service that just handles all of the bull shit administrative work our ridiculous healthcare system creates for patients and caregivers.
Glad things have hopefully slowed down for you a bit.
It’s crazy. I had some where they didn’t process the insurance properly. I didn’t receive any notice about paying, it just went straight to collections. Thankfully the collection person was reasonable, and they were able get it worked out with insurance when I gave them the information.
Had several people reach out and yeah I am okay and will be okay. Just a bad stretch where I didn’t want to be online as much.
As I think I have posted before my brother has cancer so that is a lot. He is autistic so I have to handle more or less everything in terms of scheduling, talking with drs etc Well about a month ago the chemo meds probably almost killed him due to a side effect of increasing his blood pressure massively. I thankfully got him to the hospital in time that Sunday night. Also didn’t help that he was dehydrated. This required a multiple day stay in the hospital which also delayed several things regarding his treatment that all had to be rescheduled.
This was coming off of finding out a long time friend committed suicide just days before. Then after that, the dad of my long term GF dies, he was only in his 50s. Then a bunch more medical crap that should be finished for awhile as of yesterday. My brother’s scans came back clean, they did bloodwork etc and he isn’t having to do chemo. They will check back again in three months.
So it’s been a bit of a whirlwind, but things have calmed down now.

KU is in the mix but waiting to hear from Swain on 247 where that one is going. Could be a bit before we know.
In case you missed it Swain will be away for a bit. Finally getting married congrats to him

Grew up a fan of Frank Mason and Devonte. Oh my! Music to the ears
Made me feel so old man LOL

@kuballin10 on the other hand, congrats Lexi, on the promotion! Keep up the good work!
It’s a great hire by all accounts. She is by no means new to the program either
@mayjay said in The portal.:
Have we lost @BShark ?
I had a rough personal stretch, I’ll post something about it behind the wall if people are interested
@mayjay turbulent times. I won’t bring politics into this thread otherwise I’d have a ton more to say

@Texas-Hawk-10 love Coach Q
I know he has a son recovering from cancer. Sounds like his choice, but I wonder. They’ll miss his positivity.
It was his choice he was not fired is my understanding of the situation. This has been done for quite awhile.
@BeddieKU23 said in The portal.:
KU passed on Luis
Far from the only school. His options were pretty limited. He likely will not be drafted.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Might be possible to get an answer today, I’ll try. Lot of upset people yesterday. Bill definitely thought he could close Williams.
@kuballin10 said in Recruiting Notes:
KJ’s recovery is ahead of schedule and Bill is hoping that’s his last starter
Hope no one believes this…

Not much excitement for this signing it appears?
UMKC level of player. No more walk-ons now means filling out the roster with guys like this.
Rippey and Alozie are becoming a couple of my favorites this class
@TYOHawk said in The portal.:
Would rather go after Jamir Watkins than negotiate with this kid.
Heard some things on why he is still available… Will say…hard pass.
2 vibes
@kuballin10 said in The portal.:
@TYOHawk And staff went opposite like they always do in over correcting. Griffin a shooter to now White who shot his career best 32% last year
Just get Williams and we will be good. I’d rather have Williams anyways as I’ve said
I think that is reasonable given he is a proven player in college.
@BeddieKU23 Still haven’t seen anything official fwiw
@TYOHawk said in The portal.:
I could be wrong but the contingency plans for wings has been disappointing. It was fairly obvious our wings were leaving after the season. Then we ran off Passmore as well now we just have Tre White and Samis I guess?
If Samis sees the floor just cancel the season. I think KU is in a really good spot with Darrion still…

John Buggs is a name to monitor.
Assuming that is the 13th guy spot? Does nothing good besides shoot the 3. Having a hard time finding just how many schools he’s been to, transferred 3 times since 23, think its 5 schools including Juco, wow. 68-99 made shots were from 3. Literally doesn’t do a single other thing at average level. Crazy.
Yeah JCL type player. In his own words he said he doesn’t care what role/minutes he gets. Wants to be on a winning team and get paid (even end of bench KU money is better than the places he has been).
Still working to see how legit this is from KU’s side.

So Vaughn, Buford in and then it sounds like more shake up is coming to the staff that we’ll hear about soon.
I like this direction; it certainly signals a major change for Self from the past 20+ years. Both guys have professional coaching experience, will remain to be seen how they do recruiting but we all know right now it’s more about NIL than anything else. This is a potentially positive change in the short and long term for the program.
Vaughn? For real? That would be a shocking step down for him. If that’s true, the succession rumors must be for real.
He’s likely an all time favorite for many of us, but I’d have to ponder if I’d like him as a KU head coach.
He’s in Lawrence and negotiations are on going.
@BeddieKU23 said in The portal.:
Backup big potential Patrick Suemnick visited KU today. Wait and see mode now with him
This is sounding like it’s done

From what I understand, there was a fair bit of fatigue with the donors and changes were required.
@drgnslayr said in Norm Roberts Retires:
Oops. No, not now! I meant a phase out. 1 or 2 years
This I would agree with. I think we will see a clear succession plan too. Bill doesn’t want to leave KU in a bad spot.
@TYOHawk What if Aaron Miles is also on staff?
@dylans said in Norm Roberts Retires:
@BShark He’s always been amongst my favorite Jayhawks. Not sure about his coaching chops. I felt he got the short end of the stick in NJ.
Was at a couple terrible teams as HC. From what I’ve seen, he has good/modern coaching concepts/ideas. Spent some time under Popovich too.
@dylans said in Norm Roberts Retires:
@BShark Jacque Vaughn is the only person I can think that fits that mold. I’m sure there are others, but I just have a hard time imagining him wanting to go down a level.
Bingo. HCIW talk too…he wants to be #9.
Some interesting rumors floating around…
Former player crowd might get their wish for the second opening, but someone you wouldn’t think would take it.

Duke is always a concern. They operate on a different playing field.
@approxinfinity She’s being nicer than I want to be right now. Trying my best to abstain!
