You made it count when you got minutes. Good on you kiddo.

Bill the Wizardposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Our only RSCI top 100 players truly in the rotation are Dave and JWill.
Couple KS 3 stars (Och/CB), a PG going to Missouri State, a super walk-on and Remy is obviously good but was a fringe 4 star (depending on the site).
Player development is so good, and people (myself included) tend to underrate returning players.

What Bruce Weber Says vs What Bruce Weber Doesposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Says he told his team to back off, but he had starters in PRESSING AND HARD FOULING KU’s walk-ons with 2 minutes to go. I call bullshit, Squeaky.

He’s been serviceable all tournament. Tip of the cap. I’ve been hard on him all year.

RE: Latrell Jossellposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Guys…
Jossell grew up with Kansas as his dream school. He never really thought he’d wind up playing there and didn’t have any real connections to KU. He just always was intrigued by the place ever since he first saw a KU game on television while watching sports with his grandfather growing up.
“There’s just something about Kansas," he said. "The way the arena looked, the way everything looked, I would always just run in there whenever my grandpa said KU was on TV and I just fell in love with it.”
So when the time came this week to tell his grandfather about the KU offer and his plans to sign, needless to say it was a big moment for both of them.
“He was so excited,” Jossell said. “He said he could barely even focus when he was at work. It was great to hear that and a great moment for both of us.”

Doesn’t really matter in January but pretty remarkable how good this team is coming off a title and losing almost all the key pieces. This is not normal, Self is the best.

RE: KU Roster for 25-26posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
@Jhawk69 I think it’s worth giving the team a shot, we largely have new players.
I would take KU’s roster over Arizona. I believe a lot of Dylans being down on the situation is not believing in Flory in general. I know him and Approx went at it on this subject before. I am somewhere in the middle with him but I think it’s very much within the realm of possibility that he proves to be a better all around player for the team than Hunter was. Defense can be hard to measure. I know last year’s team graded out well on that end but I believe that is largely due to Bill’s genius. That team was not getting a stop when they needed it. I suspect this team will be better on both ends if things play out right. This roster has quite a bit of positional length and should be getting after teams, attacking the ball to generate turnovers and thriving in transition. This team should actually play fast again, which was impossible to do with Hunter. As far as the offense in general, I know the KJ/Juan horse is long dead, but the impact of not playing a complete non-shooter and an unwilling shooter will open things up tremendously. That’s the thing some people (not saying anyone here) don’t understand about this topic in general. Jalen Wilson in the title year shot 26% from three. The important thing is that he was a willing shooter that had to at least be guarded out there.
TL;DR I’m going to believe in this team until they give me a reason not to.

No Vick to get more Charlie. Not sure we won on that
So, the healthy and eligible roster right now
Dotson, Grimes, Agbaji, Moore, Lawson, Lawson, Mitch, McCormack
We are foul trouble away from TEAHAN TIME.
I wish I was surprised but the last few years have numbed away being pissed off about not having enough players or depth. It’s a circus
Well to be fair it’s hard to account for two injuries. Even in this crap scenario if Garrett and Doke were just healthy there would be more than enough depth.
So for now, Self pretty much has to play all 8 guys. We will get to see if Dave and KJ can adapt.
In the mean time…I heard KU is recruiting this player…

Tracking the Outgoing KU transfersposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I know some people won’t care about this thread, but I like to track this stuff.
So far Bobby can’t get off the bench for ECU.
Cuffe 3 points and 2 fouls at the half.
Most haven’t played yet.

RE: My crisis of faith in Billposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
For starters, we probably don’t have as much money as people think relative to other programs.
Second, I thought some people were leaving, but here they are.
I’m intrigued to see what happens going forward this year and how things change without KJ. Then next year we are looking at a completely different core.
Obviously I don’t think this year is a title caliber team. That’s disappointing sure.
Bill is a really good recruiter, it’s going to be a fafo moment once he actually does retire.
I also like how all this is being said when KU has a ranked team, #7 on KP. I can only imagine the discourse when the next coach has us unranked/on the tournament bubble. Oh boy.

Iowa State could not get by KJ last night. That was a beastly defensive effort from him. I’m as much a detractor as anyone but he was key last night.

RE: Next Year's Team Threadposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Been watching a lot of Ernest Udeh and if this kid gets the system down he should get real minutes. Getting the system down is no small task but his body is P5 ready. Again not any real skill to speak of but like Udoka you surround him with 4 guards/wings and let him rebound/dunk/block. Seals/screens very well, and has really good/strong hands.

Saw a pic of some KU players there, flory, cross, Shelby and Elmarko. Somebody said zeke was there. Saw a post game interview, their young coach had so many positive things to say about DP! One reporter asked him who was he excited to play with and he said Flory. Was very impressed!
Yeah Zeke was there, away from the other players. Some former players showed up too, pretty sure I saw Tyshawn.
Bill got a great round of applause, not many kuballin10s in the crowd I imagine.

Aug 27 Update: Moved Caleb Love down to big target. Removed Daishen Nix who committed to UCLA. Removed RJ Davis and Josh Hall who appear to be trending in other directions. Added Javonte Brown-Ferguson, Moses Moody and JT Thor since he reclassified.
Sept 27 Update:
