@JayHawkFanToo You said regarding ESPN - “An ethical media outlet would have looked at the numbers and not the click bait hype to create a fake reality.” I am utterly shocked that anyone would question the ethics of ESPN.

For those wondering KJ Lawson is a redshirt Soph next season. Received a medical waiver for a heel injury suffered in his freshman year. “A heel injury limited K.J. Lawson to 10 games in the 2015-16 season, forced to watch his brother Dedric win the American Athletic Conference’s rookie of the year award from the sidelines. K.J. was, however, granted a medical redshirt and an extra season of eligibility, and last season, he captured his own AAC rookie of the year honor.”

It has also been fun as it is reminding me of some of my own life experiences and bringing back good memories: Watching the “Durant Show” from the last seat in the house in March 2007. Being able to see the Iowa St. Vs Kansas game at bar on a beach in Ixtapa in 2005 (that was the only game I was able to watch in 2005). Here is an excerpt that I read a few times because I enjoyed the imagery: "Jeremy Case: that summer it was all about getting better against each other. I think we were going so hard against each other that it caused a little tension. There were a lot of arguments, a lot of fights. The most memorable one was with Russ and Darnell. Sherron Collins: We were playing pickup and Darnell and Russ were arguing about recruiting rankings. They were going back and forth about who was rated higher coming out of high school. It was getting heated, then D-Block started making fun of Russ. He said he wasn’t a true New Yorker, that he was from the suburbs. That pissed Russ off. Jeremy Case: Russ found a line on the court and told Darnell, “C’mon…cross the line right here. I dare you to cross it.” So Darnell crossed the line and swung at Russ. He missed, and then Russ swung back and caught him right in the jaw. Darnell stumbled back a little and then we broke it up. I think Russ got the best of him. Tyrell Reed: Darnell didn’t go to the floor, but Russ definitely staggered him. Russ started running around (celebrating) and pickup was done." Beyond the Streak: Untold Stories from Kansas Basketball’s Unrivaled Big 12 Reign, Jason King.

@Blown I’m curious if she is still involved with performance studies? If so… what is she finding? A few years ago, our basketball program decided to study March performances and the possibility to improve in March. I do believe we actually experienced some of their methods to improve March performances this year. Even though we seemed fatigued in our loss to Oregon (which may be for other reasons), we looked very fresh in the 3 games leading up to Oregon and we had a short bench with our guards racking up huge minutes all year. Bill learned some tricks on how to save our legs… reduced contact practices and other restrictions. I think it made a positive impact. More to come in this area soon. One thing we will have to really grasp better next year is Devonte Graham’s cramping issue. There are so many great tips and tricks these days for cramps. Plus… plenty of studies info showing the impact duration and other important tidbits. Unfortunately, one piece of knowledge that has expanded concerning cramping relates to genetic factors. Relationships have been discovered but exact genetic tracings are still in the works.

@Blown I’m not going to point a finger at Bill and say he intentionally lost this game. That would probably be considered a crime. I know it would if it was tied it to any kind of gambling scheme. But Bill clearly is in March Madness mode. Many of us have slammed him in previous years for not targeting his team to March until it was too late. If you have this game on DVR, please go back and look at it again. When we went up by double digit numbers in the first half, our offense was as smooth as it has been all year. It looked effortless. Eventually, our play helped motivate TCU to step up and play at a higher level. After that, we didn’t make that next step. That is a step we have usually made throughout this year. But it was clear this game had no meaning for our guys because it didn’t have meaning for Bill except to use it and try out a few things. While reviewing tape, look at Bill’s T. Most Ts on coaches happens over a little time frame where the coach builds up anger and continually adds to his venting. In this case, Bill just had a controlled “explosion” and then he was fine. He was testing the waters. He wanted to know how his guys would respond to him getting T’d. Brilliant move. Also… notice Bill’s expressions towards the end of the game. He just didn’t look like he cared. We only have 7 top tier players. That is enough to win it all. But if we lost just one player… not gonna happen. I hope our guys are having light workouts with lots of coaching this weekend. This is a small window of time to actually work on team development. We don’t get many windows like this in a season. We are usually just focused on our next opponent. I believe we will find our first tournament opponent on Sunday evening. So Monday, we get right after scouting and prep for Game 1.

I believe he has a pretty big in conference buy out. KSU likely isn’t in a position to want to pay that, Bruce to not coach there and Underwood’s salary.

@Blown I was more referring to the secondary ticket market. I would be very careful of buying outside the arena because you have no assurance of real tickets, as @mayjay correctly points out. Plus, when paying with cash, if you’re out the money, there’s not a lot you can do to get that money back. The third party sites offer guarantees, and most credit cards also have fraud protection against fake tickets, so you’re in good shape to not lose any money if you buy from a site vs. buying from a stranger outside the arena.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I saw your point and still see it. It’s just a matter of how much weight we each give to “the single greatest run of dominance in major college sports history,” Again, if there were just a bit more achievement this century there would be less doubt. Similarly, I weigh Embiid’s brief shining moment more heavily than others, even if it was cut short.

@JayHawkFanToo Yes, I recall Marshall’s statement after the UCLA offer of $1.1million, which was no real raise due to the cost of living in SoCal, compared to the WichitaCowtown, but he’d have the weight of the world on him with a struggling blueblood’s fanbase angst, and trying to recruit. Recruiting is his one weakness. Maybe he knows it, and thats why he passed on UCLA. But he used the leverage of the UCLA and Alabama offers to get his $ from Koch.

If Josh were to stay in college 4 years, we would be talking about him on the same level with Danny Manning, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, etc. Except he would be better as a collegiate than any of them. He hates to lose. Period. My favorite quality in a college athlete. If Josh stayed, his numbers would improve every year (GASP!), he would learn to shoot free throws and probably lead us to the championship game for 2 of the next 3 years. As a pro - he probably won’t be a household name. Why? He will learn NOT to hate to lose. He’ll do his job, collect his paycheck and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Winning every game in the NBA is not a dream of any NBA player. Show me the money.

Personally i don’t have a problem with weed, it has many therapeutic uses. That being said it’s illegal. It’s a dumb move to get caught with it when it’s so very easy not to. Keep your stash/smoking devices out of plain view. Simple as that. Keep your dorm room clean and smelling good and those cops would have been none the wiser. If you leave your skull pipe out and it clearly has residue in it you’re going to get busted. I’m pretty sure most of those guys smoke weed which is fine, just be smart. Don’t smoke in public and don’t leave your stuff out and you’re probably going to be fine. I could argue this point all day. I know people will disagree but weed isn’t really a big deal at all. It’s far less harmful than cigarettes or alcohol and we all know college students engage in underage drinking.

@justanotherfan You’re right there is no way they could keep it up all game, but neither could the other team. What I want to see is them running in 5 minute spurts. 5 to start and close each half. 10 minute breathers in between. But no let up in defensive pressure all game. In a perfect world…
