mgbako might visit. Seems like he was pretty underwhelming for his senior season, but at the nike hoop summit(a reasonably competitive environment full of nba scouts) he was great.

hmmm where is he from again ? - -G Town ? -or where I dunno. Wasn’t he a pretty good rim protector /shot blocker ? - -thanks for the info

Looks like an elite shooter, but other than that there is a lot missing.
Yeah I think that’s why he’s in play, having that elite level shooting skill. Has size, athleticism etc. On the Phog it was mentioned by a very vocal poster there that he had talked with several that were mixed on him. The criticism about him not doing what coaches want him to do was troubling.
Personally I just don’t want another freshman on the roster unless we are replacing one of the 4 already on board with him.
Duke didn’t seem to fight to keep him at all once Filipowski returned, I’m getting bad vibes.

Yeah I generally agree but this guy is gonna be a top 5 pick. Only concerns would be shooting but I think he moves the needle way more than a Tyson.

I think McDowell is a really good long term prospect. Idk on Johnson. He had a horrible senior year which is not good from a guy you hoped would develop. Honestly another year of prep school wouldn’t the worst thing.

Thank You , now see that I can grasp/understand.- -I just find it hard to already sit sail on guys that we recruited to de-commit/transfer whatever , before they even step foot on the court to actually see them in action. - Pretty harsh judgement NOW yes after hearing stories and things on Johnson - -yes that I can understand a little better, how he might be kind of a distraction/ hard coaching and maybe some over all attitude - - I get that. - Yet like you said on Mcdowell I don’t - he CAN’T be that bad if we recruited the kid in the 1st place might be another one kinda raw and as you say long terem - but to just more or less give the impression they need to be gone before they ever step foot on the floor ? - - - Come On let’s be real

Have you looked at his production on a God awful team? 8.4 rebounds per 40 minutes at his size is an embarrassment. This is a guy you use a 13th scholarship on and see if he develops. He’d be the 4th best 5 at KU next season so he’s not worth it.

Ditto he is awful and fsu fans are not upset he left. He wouldn’t have played much if their C didn’t get hurt for the yr. He would never play here so I’m not worried

The amount of players that “contacted” KU this cycle and it never went beyond that is staggering. Too many to list.

The staff already knows that. They have access to stats and film just like we do, except more in depth in each case.

Just saying, Ron Holland is 100% worth the negative recruiting that would come with giving CJ the boot. Even if it meant we were banned from getting Montverde kids for forever.

CJ shouldn’t be the one getting the boot. It should be # 5

Not like we have the pipeline with Montverde or the connections anyway with the program. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out which shoe co’s a majority of these guys land at.
This is a rare occurrence where we took a Top 40ish kid early and he didn’t develop playing with better players/against better competition and now he looks more like a borderline 4 star/high 3 star type. That’s a big difference. Perhaps a blessing to know what they are walking into. It also becomes a topic of whether he’s KU level anymore and what should happen there.

Someone yesterday mentioned to me KU is interested in Dingle (?) from Penn who entered the portal. One of the highest scoring players in the country last year. Not seeing much confirming that this is true. Has anyone heard of him or this rumor?

I’ve been asked not to discuss it too much or name who the favorite would be, but this is a fairly safe assumption to make.

I guess that’s the new landscape. I don’t think Bill would do this under normal circumstances, but Hunter charges the whole trajectory of the team next year if we get him. Sometimes you are going to have to risk losing a 3-4 year player for a 1 year rental if you think it gets you to the next level.
