Most middle and high schools play zone defenses so they don’t know how to do that.

The FT disparity has been more a result of SFA’s pressure defense than anything else tonight.

I’ve actually watched a good chunk of the game, SFA plays a physical, pressure defense. There have been very few bad calls tonight

@Texas-Hawk-10 think you missed the point. We seldom played zone and most the teams we went against didn’t either. The point is that’s defensive basketball one-o-one from our coach that’s supposed to be a defensive minded guy. Go watch the Michigan sweet 16 collapse, think we when went under 3 screens late including Burke’s game tying one. “To do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result is insanity” Thomas Jefferson.

I’m not missing the point, most schools these days play zone defenses so screening isn’t a big offensive play so kids today don’t know how to defend it properly when they encounter it. This is a different generation than when you were in school. I know this because I am middle school basketball coach and we run 90% 2-3 zone because we’re so limited in practice time we don’t have time to teach proper man defense.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I remember my high school coach blowing dead a scrimmage and telling us the next person that goes on under a screen will join his teammates in hitting every step in this place no less than 5 times. It’s fine that you play a zone, that can work well with the right kids and going against certain teams. I just don’t like seeing our guys do it repeatedly at this level my friend.
