I posted bits from this earlier but basically they are selling him on immediately starting at PG and have a great relationship with his dad that goes back many years.

@BeddieKU23 I believe him reclassing is VERY good for KU. So hopefully it does happen.

agree, I’m optimistic and the reclass may be fueled by KU’s interest to get him in this class given the struggles recruiting guards.

Seen some clip from TOS with Clemence & Dick , Sunrise playing Clemence hit a few pick & pops - - Dick looked pretty well , doesn’t really look like at this point anyways Grady has much interest in playing defense gettin beat quite a bit - -but if he indeeds commits here - -I’m sure he will get to learn defense REAL QUICK or he will be spending a lot of early time on the pine - -has a sweet looking shot though.

UMM NO LOL - - BSark is having 2nd thoughts not me. - - what i said was I was asking BShark why he would be ok with Brady going to Baylor - I myself would still like to have him.
What I said was and BShark agreed was is that at this point it doesn’t seem like Dick wants much to do with the defensive end of the floor. - - That’s not going to cut it when you have Coach Self as your Coach. - you don’t want to play Defense then you gonna get real friendly sitting at the end of the bench handing out water to the players that DO play - plain and Simple lol - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

they can still correct it AND they will if he comes here - -watch the game you can see got beat multiple times kind of a Ohlay defense effort

Yeah it can be corrected and he’s still only a Jr. Kids defending in High School at a high level are hard to find. I haven’t seen enough of his actual games to make a judgement but hopefully I will at some point. The team they played had several D1 players. Not worried this early.
If his D is below par in a year or so I’d worry then and only if he signed with KU , which right now I don’t expect

He is charmin soft. Could he toughen up? Sure but right now he isn’t.

KJ Adams moved up to #45 in ESPN latest update. Should see a bump in his composite off that I think

Both are much higher in composite than actual 24/7 rankings. Heard there is some strong anti-KU bias at 247 with the people that had been doing a lot of the rankings work.

I concur. “Interest” can be a lot of things. Probably just want game tape and some verified measurements.

If anyone here has Rivals premium (lol, I sure don’t) Wildebeest posted a “premium” thread update on Cuffe.
As of now I feel pretty good about this one just waiting for the Slater bomb.

So do you think he is going to end up re-classifying then ? to 2021.Thats gonna make for a really crowded backcourt isn’t it ?
I had heard some that he might be going to St Johns - don’t know how true that is

His dad went to St John’s so that’s part of it.
Haven’t seen anything pointing to him going there though.

This is correct.
It’s not that crowded with Garrett leaving. You only have Harris, Thompson, Cuffe and Jossell, with Jossell not really being a factor. There is a decent chance he could be the starting PG. We all like Harris, but Cuffe much moreso fits the mold of what the staff looks for in a PG. He’s a fearless driver and willing defender. In an interview over the summer he talked about how he loves playing hard nosed defense and getting steals because all he wants to do is get transition dunks. Either way I would expect him to be part of the rotation next year.
Idk if Ochai will be back but I consider Braun and Ochai to be wings. The staff really wanted a guard for next season, like super badly.

Jumper isn’t broken. Saw plenty of made 3s in highlights but doesn’t look like a pure shooter type. Has a bit of low release and probably is best when he’s open. He looks better then Garrett or Harris though as a shooter. His athleticism though is off the charts. Explosive leaper and seems to have a wide range of ways he can finish a basket. Definitely looks to have that Frank/Devon fearlessness attacking the basket. And he’s a more athletic then both of them which makes him potentially deadly getting to the rack. I love when we get guards that can get in the lane and finish. Been spoiled with that mentality in the last half dozen years

So they say he is announcing where he going to go to College this Saturday at 5:30 - -so I guess he IS re-classifying

Cuffe absolutely explodes off the floor. I had to check his height again to be sure he was really just 6-2.
His jumper is a bit deliberate right now. He needs a lot of reps to clean it up, but as @jayballer67 said, it isn’t broken by any means. I would say Cuffe looks like a bigger, more athletic version of Frank Mason. Frank’s shot wasn’t broken coming out of HS. It just needed some work. Same here, but with the added bonus that Cuffe is bigger and more athletic, so can lean on some of those skills on either end. I don’t know if he will progress like Frank did (that would be a dream), but I could see him being a Day One starter at the point.

This video might give you a glimpse of what he could do at KU. Against high level competition as well.
Some steals that are Chalmers/Garrett esque’, the ability to get in the lane and finish or find an open man. He looks like a high level defender now. He had a steal and dunk on one sequence that was absolutely filthy. Hard to imagine this kid isn’t a Top 50ish prospect

Is he (Cuffe Jr.) a good ball-handler? He didn’t help much to break pressure in that video and his handle looked a little shaky. Obviously ultra-athletic and a good defender, but his skillset almost seems more like a wing than a guard.

thanks for that ya, the one just picked him clean nice hops. - tell you also that Kyle collier look pretty dam decent to me also. - -seems like I’ve heard of him too can’t remember where he was going could be wrong

He probably has a bit to go in that regard. In listening to some of his interviews he knows his future in pro basketball is at the PG spot due to his size so he has been working on it.
One comparison I saw is EJ and I don’t think that’s too far off. Ideally you would want him to develop as a PG better, and obviously stay healthy.
@jayballer67 Noah Collier is at Pittsburgh this year. Not much of a factor yet.
