If Ochai and Wilson both do not come back next year is not going to be very much fun. I am pretty dissapointed in how Self handled the portal. Seems like we should have been able to land much better talent then we did.

@Woodrow Got just flat out beat for Xavier Pinson and obviously they waited around on TyTy to end up just not getting him.
If it is Wheeler…he looks like Charlie Moore to me…

@FarmerJayhawk All indications are this is correct. Homesick while in Utah does not bode well for him leaving the state of Washington.

I guess the question is (since we screwed around too long, chasing a prima donna instead of picking up another solid transfer) what will our team be if both Wilson and Agbaji return? And we don’t need Wheeler unless we want Harris to transfer. And I’d take Harris over Wheeler any day.

There will be a spot to fill, and Self will fill it. Wheeler seems most likely right now @Marco
Starting line-up would likely be Harris, Braun, Ochai, Jalen, Dave to start the season. Believe me though when I say I would prefer Braun in a bench role.

@bennie I have no idea what Bill is selling him on. It would be a full ass roster, and you do have to think some guys would end up not being thrilled with their role.

Hit a bit of a wall, got COVID. Trust me when I say playing basketball seems near impossible with COVID.
He’s a hard worker, have confidence he will be one of our best players and improve.

Yeah it was basically his FR year, as mentioned he hit a bit of a wall and had also been scouted. I think he’s really good though, one of the few higher rated players on the roster and that’s not everything but does shot talent is there.

Believe is is 5’10’’ now but still tiny.
I would assume that both sides think he would have a shot to play if he comes here. Played huge minutes so far, for admittedly not great Georgia teams.

DAM sure didn’t take long for these so called experts to piggy back did it. - -Washington with like 5 picks to Kentucky , this is what is so dam frustrating why THE HELL Self just kept sitting there all these other goes going flying by cause Self was stuck on Washington. - we could see the writing on the wall a long time ago = - -and Self still sits , you even said yourself along time ago Kentucky had offered and it was over at that time - -Spot on – total waste of time - -would love to see him fall flat on his face just like Kentucky did last year

What in the hell is going on with all our troubles in recruiting? Has Self lost his touch? I mean, a top ten class this year is unacceptable, and it’s already May, so we all know nothing good will happen before next season. Why would we continue to recruit a kid Kentucky got involved with? Why in the world would we try to recruit against UK, Duke, Carolina, Villanova, Baylor, and a dozen other teams we’ve lost kids to? Self should run from such challenges and only recruit players we KNOW. We WILL sign. I don’t know, I just wish we could consistently field a team that wins and competes for championships. Sarcasm included.

The day KU bakcs away from a recruit that Baylor is also recruiting is the day I will no longer be a Jayhawk fan & I’ve been a KU fam for 60 years - - Baylor late success for the last 4 - hell even 5 yrs is not even close to be considered a true blue blood. - -You asking what’s happened to our recruiting - -well this NCAA crap has a role in that, we have recruited and I’m sure we wil continue to recruit against these schools. You can’t run scared and not recruit a kid just because of a name - -there is NEVER anyw way of Knowing for 100% that ANY KID will sign with us OR any other teams - - Looking back at your post hoping the entire pose is being Sarcastic - -if not then here is my response to that post lol. - Wonder if these other Schools run away from the challenge of a kid that KU is recruiting that they have lost to KU - -ROCK CHAL ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer67 Yes, my entire post was sarcasm. I’m as passionate about KU basketball as anyone and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed when we miss out on certain guys. At the end of the day I have total faith in Self that he knows what kind of team he wants to put together and has proven time and time again he will get it done. Does it always work? No, but you don’t consistently win like he does without knowing what you’re doing. TRUST IN BILL

You got it. Anyone care to take bets? Gonzaga is paying bigtime. And they don’t have to worry, because image, name and likeness - and no legislating body including that of Kansas’ can for long stop it - will soon be nationwide. It is quite obvious that the NCAA (headquartered in KC) concentrates mostly on the midwest - and yes, I stand by that statement. Arizona would’ve gotten off too, but they made it too easy.

@Marco NIL isn’t something that’s going to help a school like Gonzaga because it’s nowhere close to a major city (Spokane is about double the size of Lawrence) so the marketing opportunities won’t be there as they would be at a place like KU which also has a huge presence in KC. A place like KU isn’t even going to see the full benefits of the NIL ruling unless the NCAA puts a cap on how much a player can earn in endorsements. Schools in or near places like Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and other marketing capitals are the schools most likely to see an uptick from NIL situations.
The Supreme Court isn’t too far away from making a ruling in the Alston v. NCAA case which will put the NIL situation under federal law. The Kansas state legislature was absolutely right for vetoing the NIL bill within the state because it was bundled with the transgender kids in sports bill. Those two issues had no reason to be bundled together and needed to be legislated upon separately.
Also, the NCAA hasn’t been headquartered in KC in over 20 years.

Believe Hickman wanted to play closer to home and given the year Gonzaga had this year I don’t blame any kid that wants to join that culture. They are ‘the’ school right now.
