OK, so McBride is a 19 guy right? - - So this is Chandler saying these things right? -So then is Chandler possibly hoping to play together with McBride? With him talking and saying hopefully we’ll be able to make the decision at the same time or close to each other? If that is Chandler saying this sounds like he might want to play with McBride - - yes?

@jayballer73 Yeah. They are probably gonna play together in Lawrence, lol.
Also Chandler is a combo forward like KJ. He can definitely play some three. I don’t think the staff view him at the same position as Hurt and JRE. I could be wrong though.
I think Chandler is a good long term player and his family knows he isn’t going to be OAD. He could come to KU and develop over 3-4 years. With his length he could really be disruptive on defense and he would improve his offense over time I’m sure.

This is probably going to be a big class. Dedric and Vick are leaving. Grimes and Doke are extremely likely to leave. Silvio is definitely a candidate to leave for lots of reasons. Then there is an open spot. So that’s potentially 6 scholarships to give out.

@jayballer73 I’ve got Memphis FWIW. KU is playing nice because he’s family but they won’t be heartbroken if he goes elsewhere. Of course that could change if he plays really well at Oak Hill this year. As of now, meh. More of a RS/developmental guy.

Penny is going to go hard after Chandler and any other top level Memphis area recruits in the coming years and land probably all of them that he wants. Penny might be the best player to ever come out of the Memphis area and he’s got the reputation from middle and high school in Memphis that he could build a fence around the city in a hurry like Cal did there.

Memphis is going to have a monster haul this year. But I don’t think Hampton will be in it. Don’t read much into the OV. Remember guys can take 15 now instead of 5, broken up by year. Still Duke and KU in my mind.

Ha! Yeah couldn’t resist the Mizzou dig. Let’s hope we don’t need to take him come April. Seems like a prime year to add mid year transfer. We have the open scholarship and guys are leaving more often mid year.

Sorry , I’m thinking umm maybe not on this kid lol. - -Sorry no knock on the guy maybe a little lesser P-5 MAYBE but unless these old eye’s are worse then I thought - -I’m not seeing any WOW or close to WOW. Not quite sure why we really offered I know , I know sounds bad and not trying to be BUTA I’m just not seeing a KU uniform on the guy – I guess that is why Coach and the staff are at where they are at and I’m at where I’m at, maybe they see something I don’t. I like him. He would be a reserve, but he’d be entertaining at the end of games his first two years, and probably get some minutes his junior and senior year. Not as a starter, but you bring him in to shoot the 3. It’s too bad we couldn’t talk him into coming in as a walk on.The smart player will help the athletic player get better.

There are no Grimes in the 19 class to get so I’m holding out that we get a shooter with some size.
Cole would be the “dream” duo but I think he’ll go straight to the draft.

Has anyone seen Braun play? The highlights I’ve seen show he can shoot which in today’s game is critical. I didn’t see what else he could do at a KU level and athletically he looks well below someone Self would offer so what’s the deal here?
4 of 5 I’m on board with. I think Chandler goes somewhere else, I just can’t see us taking the name, he’s not even close to his brothers skill level

@BeddieKU23 @Hawk8086 I’m going to have to catch some of his games this year if he commits or it appears KU is really going after him. I have some buddies in the KC metro who are very surprised by this offer. One is a grape (despite what I said about not hanging out with riff raff lol) and he joked that Self might be going senile.
As for Chandler I could see him ending up at Memphis but apparently Memphis isn’t really pushing for him. I don’t think he is so bad that he isn’t a 4 year KU guy. KU has trotted worse out there during Self’s tenure. In the starting line-up even. I like him long term especially defensively.

I think Chandler is perfect program guy. We can strengthen him up enough to hold his own at the 4. At which point, he is really the perfect stretch 4 for modern day basketball.

I thought we’d see more people trying to spin this but I don’t see it. The Capel loss certainly hit them here + Nova having a shiny trophy to sell. Nova is recruiting stupid right now and isn’t done from everything I see

For those that don’t follow recruiting as closely and might just be thinking only of this miss well it’s not just this. They also appear to be fading with Cole Anthony.
They will get Josiah James no doubt, but outside of that I don’t know.

Wendell Moore? He seemed the other lock.
Stewart certainly seems to be open who is their big priority.
We don’t want Duke circling the wagon to give the Hurt’s some nike money… They have to right the ship

Slater responded back and said - - -Josiah James - - - hmmmm.
