2025 Chiefs

  • @rockchalkjayhawk Need the oline to get healthy/return from their spiritual journey (or w/e Simmons is doing)

  • @mayjay The food was good, at least

  • I feel like Andy uses the regular season Bills game to set them up later. - same look different play next meeting. Seems to be a good formula for post season success. 5-4 is not ideal though.

  • The question becomes with the trade deadline looming what does KC do? I feel like they either need to upgrade the D line or get a running back. The defensive line has turned into the receiving corps from the last two years. We are filled up with guys that got cut elsewhere and couldn’t make rosters with Charles O, Pennel and company. The difference in the game yesterday was the Bills had time to throw the ball and have a great RB. The chiefs have neither of those two things at the moment.

  • D Line

  • I don’t think the Chiefs will do anything. They probably think that when healthy this roster is good enough to make a Super Bowl run and that there is no reason to short-change our draft capital. I would personally trade for a high-impact D-lineman.

  • @Jhawk69 Jerry Jones is running up the price! A fool and his draft capital…

  • looks like a quiet day for the Chiefs. good and bad. I think they need some reinforcements. Can’t waste generational talent like Mahomes and risk not making the playoffs.

  • For one thing, I understand not hitting the panic button. KC is a good team (probably the best 5-4 team of all time) and its wise not to let the bitter aftertaste of a game we were always going to lose (I mean c’mon, its the Bills in the regular season) sucker us into paying too much in a trade.

On the other hand, I really don’t see our defensive line being able to do anything against any good o-lines, which will hurt us in the playoffs (if we even make it).

  • Looks like a late veteran addition when someone asks out of their contract to play for a contender. The Chiefs cap for next year is f’d already so there really is no room for any big additions without subtractions next year. - over the cap about 42 mil. with only 36 players signed or some nonsense. Hope the cap goes up more than expected. Taylor is likely to get cut. Not sure who else. Bank of Mahomes will be tapped into he has a 78mil cap hit - untenable.

  • Supposedly the chiefs contacted the Jets about Hall but was only willing to give a 4th round pick. The jets wanted a third rounder. I would’ve gave it and the 4th rounder for Max Crosby. I would’ve done both if those deals, the chiefs have failed at the draft IMO the last few years. Believe Hicks, Simmons and Worthy are the only guys playing from the last 2 drafts.

  • @kjayhawks Summataya (LG)

  • Broncos are turning to the chiefs of last season. Winning games they have zero business doing so.

  • @kjayhawks I watched that garbage last night and thought the same thing. I thought even the Chiefs could have beaten them last night.

  • I think the Chiefs have a chance to be very good next year if they take reinforcing the trenches seriously in the offseason. This season they will not make the playoffs.

  • This is simply a bad football team.

  • Next year will be worse. The cap situation is disastrous.

  • I don’t think they are a bad team. I think they are average or slightly above average with a very tough schedule, which is not a good recipe for a playoff berth.

42.7 mil over the the ‘26 cap with only 36 players signed so every dollar added goes against the cap. Next year will swing heavily depending on the draft. Veach needs another 2022 esq draft or 2026 will be brutal with all the cuts, restructures needed to clear space to retain their own free agents (McDuffie, Watson, Kelce etc), and a lack of impact free agents being affordable. Veach better hit a homerun.

  • Yea brutal sked. Unfortunate injuries and “personal matters”. And not as sharp as past years for sure, But this is by no means a bad football team.

With virtually no threat to succeed in the running game, they can be predictable and pressured.

    Denver is good though.

    Disappointing.

  • I put this on Veach, had opportunities before the trade deadline and did nothing. This team isn’t great by any stretch of imagination. They are just average, pending on the rest of the year they maybe be able to squeak into the playoffs. But that was nail in the coffin for the division. 9 years in a row is tough to do, just like KUs 14 straight. It was great but can’t last forever

  • Overpaying Taylor, Chris Jones, and Harrison Butker didn’t help either

  • @Jhawk69 play calling was laughable, no idea why they didn’t try to run the ball more especially up with 4 minutes to go.

  • @kjayhawks Yeah, plus multiple chances to get a stop on 3rd down and no pressure being dialed up, which allowed Nix to stand calmly in the pocket and wait for an inevitable first down throw to open up.

  • @Jhawk69 yep like KUs defense on Saturday’s giving up multiple 3rd and 8 plus yards. The defense line is garbage.

  • I was getting fired up to check the boxscore to blame penalties for the loss…but then i saw the Broncos penalties and that excuse fell out the window!

Chiefs: 10 penalties for 69 yards

Broncos: 10 penalties for 147 yards

  • 7-1 our last 8. Life is good for @wissox and I! Ben Johnson is so good.

Is an asteroid headed to earth? The Bears look good and the chiefs stink lol

  • It’s a new era!

  • KU football is consistently winning 5 games a year…. What did it cost? Me looks at the chiefs and KU basketball….everything lol

  • @FarmerJayhawk Enjoying the ride, while trying not to suffer a coronary! TBH, the whole thing could come crashing down with the difficult part of the schedule looming. But just even being still interested in pro football this time of year is fun.

Yes, the refs really stayed involved the entire game. Rarely did the miss an opportunity to shine. It was their moment!

Ugg just a brutal game to watch. Denver’s defense is legit.

  • @dylans Respectfully, everyone’s defense looks pretty good aganst this Chief’s offense.

  • @nuleafjhawk the chiefs put up more passing yards than the broncos average giving up. Just no idea why they out right refuse to run the ball in any capacity.

  • I see one of two things happening here, the team folds and only wins a few more games this season. Or the team goes on a run starting next week and Mahomes wins MVP again and the chiefs make the playoffs.

  • @kjayhawks Unfortunately, my money is on option #1

  • I think the Chiefs finish 10-7 and barely miss the playoffs

  • IMHO, Pacheco’s absence is significant. It limits the running game which in turn affects the passing game.

  • @bskeet definitely didn’t help any because they was scared to run anyone but Hunt. I still think they were stupid for not giving a 3rd round pick for Hall. They need a guy with big play capability. Hunt and Pop have combined for 1 rush for more than 20 yards this season. Sorry but that is pathetic, it’s also pathetic Chris Jones is the highest paid defensive lineman in the NFL and grades out in the mid 60s. Trade him for a couple of younger guy with the Hall trade and this team hasn’t lost since.

  • @kjayhawks KC has 5 picks in the draft, plus a probable compensatory pick. Giving up a 3rd round pick for a half season of a guy whose career stats are actually quite similar to Pacheco seems like a no brainer: No. The 3rd rounder will be on a rookie contract whereas keeping Hall past this year would require another weighty contract. You are already unhappy with the Chiefs’ cap situation–I’m surprised you want them to take on a rental and lose the advantages of getting a top 80-90 draftee cheaply.

  • @mayjay Hall is a big upgrade imo from Pop, he averages almost a yard more per carry and actually has some long runs. I think the chiefs are better up front than the jets by a fair margin. In terms of the draft, it depends on whom they draft. Sky Moore was a laughable pick as was CEH and Felix. We wasted two first round picks on guys that everyone with brain were low on.

  • I agree Hall would have been nice and we probably should have made the trade. However, I don’t think it would have been hugely impactful. It would have made our offense a little better but would have done nothing to address the real issue: our defense. Because we refused to address the D-line at all, every above-average offense we face will continue to move the ball on us at will.
