Good news for KU/Big 12- -TV

  • Just heard that ESPN has come to an agreement with Warner Bro’s Disney where Warner will be able to Broadcast some of the Big 12 Football & Basketball games in return for ESPN getting the rights to the inside NBA.

All this means some of our games wil be carried by additional outlet , some games will be on TNT & MAX. - In the end also comes 2031 helps because of the Big 12 wanting to like they been talking separating Basketball/ Football rights into separate deals - - - -their talking like this also has an advantage of like not so much of us using ESPN Plus being carried by TNT & MAX instead - -as you know having to pay for ESON PLUS - troubles with buffering og games at time , other issues with ESPN PLUS. – Didn’t catch it all but they were talking like how this really benefits the BIG 12

  • Well, that would be welcome news because ESPN+ is a rinky-dink streaming service. Almost every time I watch a game on it, something happens to make me declare that I’m going to unsubscribe as soon as possible.

  • Yay! more services to buy

  • @bskeet Yeah, I haven’t subscribed til this year but it was pretty wonky the other night when we played Oakland.

  • The big think Yormork has done with this is got the Big 12 additional exposure , better quality , Warner and ESPN came to a deal - ESPN wanted to have the inside the NBA and exchange Warner has gotten the rights to show - -13 football and 15 Basketball contests, most of the Basketball will be Conference games.

Now not only does the Big 12 have ESPN carrying our games we ne Still have Fox carrying games now plus TBS & TNT , like was mentioned better quality , ESPN Plus there were times with a lot of buffering and stuff. - -Adds more eye balls to the Big 12 broadcasts

The Big thing Yormork is looking at also that when it comes time in 2031 for the new TV deal- - -it adds more competition for the rights to carry our games. - -ESPN , Warner , CBS -as CBS right now has rights to carry 26 of our Basketball games- - this is going to raise the value meaning more money to the Conference , Yormork wants to establish a relationship with Warner , get our feet in the door and build the relationships as in 2031 were in better position

Been watching many Podcasts on this move and every single one of them saying what a smart mover by our Commissioner, this also will help the status of Yormark as when it comes time he wants to separate the two --wants separate contracts between Football and Basketball -He is a smart man for sure

  • So KU is on ESPN+. #1 in the country. What is ESPN showing instead? Northern Illinois vs Miami OH football! ESPN2? Western Michigan vs Central Michigan football! 🤔

  • @jayballer67 Yormark is a true businessman and what every conference should be going after

Not some person in academia who was an athletic director but has no clue how to negotiate a contract and drive business/$$$ for the conference
