Jacque Vaughn fired

Poor JV. always a fav.
-
brutal. Vaughn was my favorite hawk as a kid, still have his jersey hanging up. Hopefully he finds another gig, the Nets are not a prosperous organization.
-
maybe depaul could hire him
-
He was in a tough spot. Hopefully he will land a better job.
-
Sucks when youve coached 350 games for teams that are rebuilding and then get kicked to the curb when they want to invest in free agents to be a contender. Could be the least representative losing record of actual coaching talent ever?
-
Vaughn never got a fair shake IMO, come on back to Lawrence and be the coach in waiting I say.

lol. I responded to the article link, I’m guessing it’s the wrong link after reading above. ️
@approxinfinity I don’t see productive NBA careers for anyone on the current KU roster expect maybe Furphy could be a back half of the roster guy. There is no future mvp Embiid or even a late devolving all star like Wiggins, but I can see a Hinrich like career for Furphy.
Looking at that mock draft, I know nothing of any of the non-KU players (and the only KU guy I would take is Furphy in the second round or maybe late in the first) Is this a horrible draft or am I just that disconnected? Normally there are a few stars you hear about, this year it’s just Zach Edey and he doesn’t do much for me. No Wemby in this draft and not many college stars, what gives? Does the marketing suck or is it a lack of elite play?

This draft sucks but it seems like the league is way higher than furphy than you are. I’ve seen for the most part top half of the first round projections for him
-
@rcjhdraft He outclasses our roster for sure. I can’t decide if the league is high on him, just high in general, or the talent pool absolutely sucks.
To be fair I didn’t think Gradey Dick was ready for the NBA and he was a lottery pick. Given I had only met him once, but he was very immature. Furphy handles himself better, but isn’t as good of a player.
-
@dylans oops. Yeah it was a run on article by espn. The one below the one i pasted was about Vaughn
-

@approxinfinity Give him some players. Never got a fair shake imo what’s his face from lsu never tried in Philly either. That’s a player issue. Don’t know the rest of the roster though.
-
I’m reading draft analysis’ of JayFurp and the advice is for him to wait a year to muscle up. Of course his shooting was his main appeal and one reporter offered that Furphy is going to have an astounding stretch of scoring any game now. His defense has improved and his willingness to crash the boards and run during fast breaks is a big plus. Of course all of this we already knew.

Lack of talent wasn’t the issue that got him fired though. A bunch of players sat for a big game against Milwaukee (enough players that Brooklyn got fined for it) and they haven’t been playing hard since then.
At the NBA level, an uncompetitive roster is a management issue. A lack of effort is a coaching issue. This was also the big knock on Vaughn in Orlando when he was head coach there as well. Vaughn appears to be much suited as an assistant coach rather than a head coach.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I read the article. It doesn’t account for the schedule. I haven’t delved into it as I don’t care about the nba.
