Read just a little over an hour ago - -Eric Bossi on his way to Napa for the commitment , saying NO decision has been made an from this point he could not discuss anything more about it. -Also read that Ohio State has thrown a huge bad at Peterson to come and play for Ohio State

Especially since the most feared recruiter on the trail is Bill. Does he land everyone? Of course not, nobody does. But dig into articles surveying coaches about who they don’t want to be up against one particular name keeps coming up as the closer.

It’s been K and Cal for the longest time. Now people claim they fear Bill yet look at recruiting classes and transfers…that’s all hype and fodder but the results don’t track.

If coaches still fear K they’re very much living up to the highly paid PE teacher label. Self and Cal continually come up, nobody else is really even in the conversation. At this point you’re making the argument that Bill can’t recruit or coach and at the same time his two titles are only because of good players he recruited. You’re just bitching to bitch.

I for one think @kuballin10 brings up good talking points even if I disagree with his overall conclusions. I think the more granular we get, the more nuanced and maybe fruitful our discussion can be. I like how he brings up specific players and how they were handled.

@approxinfinity Honestly I will second that to some extent. When he brings up DaJuan it just leads to an infinite loop where everyone wastes time debating something that is one-sided. But his points about the direction of our program and how we fare in the tournament definitely spark good conversation.

Got a question , since they have done with the National Letter of Intent , Let’s say if Darryn does verbal to us - -I think that’s all they do now right? -is verbal - -Is there anything that could keep him as a commit to KU without him changing his mind afterwards and not having any consequences for it ? - -just asking

I’ll also say this before anything occurs. I remember in 2019 being disappointed we didn’t land Samuell Williamson and instead took a local kid ranked in the 100s. The local kid turned out to be Christian Braun…we’ll be fine regardless.

Self was always second fiddle in recruiting to those guys. UK and Duke with Nike load up on talent. Now that those two have slowed down (K retired and Cal so bad he was ran out of town)….it was projected that Self is the baddest man in recruiting and literally THE coach every high schooler wants to play for. He’s #1 coach in college bball
Scandal has blown over so no excuse there.
Us losing DP would be tragic because of all the talk above
It is supposed to be our prime with the best coach, best program, best history and $$$$ via adidas flagship progrummm - 2 or 3 more titles with upper echelon recruits and transfers
Self won because guys like brush stayed and och/braun/wilson/dave
He struggles to integrate players into his system quickly so he wins because yes, he gets talent and they stay and develop. He struggles with one and dones which is typically what the portal has become.

It could be hindsight but Ayton always seemed like he wanted other schools to recruit him. Some kids just aren’t enamored with KU which is crazy to us as fans. But it’s how it goes. It’s why I truly enjoy rooting for the Zeke’s, Gradey’s and CB who grew up wanting to play at KU.

Curious to see how these guys gel and if Self can unscrew up Storr. Potential to be elite 8ish I’d say but I’m more that 32/16 range right now.

If Bill is that upper echelon now and “the man” in college bball - he can’t whiff in DP

Go look at their recruiting classes - loaded year in and year out with top 10 guys where if we get 1 Wiggins or 1 Cliff we are excited versus them getting multiple top guys
You can argue for the sake and claim I said they never whiffed…which I said it rarely happens and they got just about whoever they want when they want

iF you go back and look since Bill has been at Ku & Cal at UK not fricken much difference. Not sure you know or not but there is a Reason Cal isn’t at UK anymore, ya go and say well Cal left on his own - ya he sure did, couldn’t leave fast enough as UK fans were ready to hang him -can someone remind me of Coach’s record at the Phog is again. Not sure but pretty dam scary, how in the hell does he do that when he plays favorites and keeps them cause remember he can’t Coach - -He can’t develop players - - AND he plays favorites -BUT DAM some how he still wins - - IT’S A MIRACLE lol

I am reading good things about Peterson. Basically a well rounded SG with not much to nit pick about.
Some say he’s a good 3pt shooter, others say he needs work with consistency.
Some say he has a great pull up shot in the paint, others say he could get to the rim more.
Others say he even plays defense! yay.
He even says he’s working on his PG skills. Compares himself to Devin Booker.
Really haven’t read any negatives on him at all. Well done, staff!
