Could be awhile IF it’s Robinson , as he has enter the NBA draft to. read he is predicted to be drafted. So he has till what May 31st to pull out of the draft if he ends up returning to College.
They are counting on him coming to UK of course, be re-united with Pope.

What I’m saying is he has a top 1-3 roster every single year and we are constantly ranked number 1/2/3 all these years and he’s got 2 titles to show for it. Anyone not think through that?

Looks like 9 have 2, including Self, making him a top 15 all-time coach already, by that metric. (I know you know, but I’ll answer in order to move this conversation forward, because I don’t think the socratic method works for everyone

ONE MORE TIME , let me try and slow this down for you so you can understand. - -You say Self has got 2 titles with all these top 1-3 rosters every single year , can throw that right back at you Calipari had all these # 1 ranked- -# 2ranked recruiting classes -even top 5 classes practically EVERY YEAR na dhow many titles does Calipari how many did he have at Kentucky - -You not think through that -holy crap man wake up. Calipari has had better rosters almost every year over Ku according to services and has done nothing with them - - Shows who can Coach better and develop better better classes or not. Dam man

I explained to you earlier that the argument of “Self should have more titles” is the smartest way to bash Self. Honestly I commend you for trying to play your best card. However, you don’t understand why Self “only” has two titles. When you come up with an idea, you should analyze the idea and see if facts corraborate it before wholeheartedly believing it.
In other words, the theory that Self’s teams get upset in the tournament because Self chooses to play high-floor/low-ceiling players and thus creates high-floor/low ceiling teams holds absolutely no water. Let us take 2011 as an example. That team went 35-3 and had multiple impressive wins, including against Arizona and Texas, who were both top 10 teams (and both significantly better and more athletic than VCU). So to argue that we did not have the ceiling to beat VCU makes no sense.
The other example you provided was us playing Jamari Traylor, who was just a bench player who came in to relieve Perry Ellis and Landon Lucas. It is hard to see Traylor getting bench minutes as the kind of situation that cripples our ceiling but let’s look at this team anyways. That team went 33-5 and had multiple top-25 wins including 4 top 10 wins. Too low a ceiling to win a title?
No. If you can beat top 10 teams your ceiling is fine.If I were you I would argue that Self does not mentally prepare his teams for the tournament well enough. There is evidence for this, unlike the low-ceiling argument. We have missed open jumpers and free throws at astonishingly high rates in elimination games. Start your arument here, think through what you say, and take it from there.

When Hurley can match u in two years or Scott Drew of all dudes is 1 title away from tying u that isn’t saying much

If he’s considered the goat coach and in this era then yeah winning only two titles his entire career won’t differentiate him from your boy Hurley

Maybe pick a different team if you know they will just fail, it seems to make you miserable and you seem to like to share that misery. Perhaps UConn and Danny Hurley is the apple of your eye. Vcu went 12/25 from 3 while we went 2/21……
We never adjusted to Skeen knocking down 3’s or guarding from deep per Self which is usual. Was talking to another coach about how it seems every team always has a career day from deep against us and we both agreed it’s easy to see why due to philosophy

You really can’t honestly make the Bill squandering top rosters argument in the last several years. In part due to the FBI/NCAA stuff. Sure 2011 and 2016 were bad breaks, it happens.
To win a title you need NBA talent and a bit of luck too.

@BShark …wait there is luck involved in a single elimination tournament with 68 participants? Nah. Matchups don’t matter, college players are dead consistent. I don’t know why they even bother playing the game the outcome is pre-determined, KenPom nails it every year due to the consistency across the sport.

It’s a Self dream to go 2/25 from deep and win and I have no clue why he desires that ugly form of basketball as if it elevates his offensive genius.
Why not have legit shooters who run an offensive machine and knock down open shots you scheme up?

@rockchalkjayhawk I think if Bill can loosen the reins on trusting newbies (even if they are jr/sr transfers) then he will be successful.
The portal has allowed him to screw Nike by getting top transfers that aren’t straight out of high school.
He’s got 5-10 years left he needs to get 3-4 more titles so we pass UConn and/or tie with uk as they become the next Indiana or ucla

Before I respond let me see if I understand your argument. Are you suggesting that Self’s offensive scheme is good at getting us open looks but the players Self plays, including Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, Devonte Graham, and Svi Mylhailiuk are not good enough shooters to knock them down?

Why is it a lot of other Coach’s talk so highly of Self ? - -sure the hell isn’t luck - -The winning percentage he has had in the Phog - - is Not luck. - -We have won consistently with really talented clubs - - -we have won with ehh ok teams. - -Those teams where Coach’s ability has won the most.
I’m not even begin to go over AGAIN like others have tried to mention to you about all the things that go into winning a National Championship - So many factors. – How many other top notch blue bloods have done more then Bill’s teams - -I said bluebloods. winning back to back – just don’t happen, ya U Conn -and yet U Conn is not a blue blood - - - not a TRUE BLUEBLOOD. - -They have had a stretch of maybe 6 years. - -a true blood your looking at 15-20 yrs of top Basketball. Not sure if any maybe one of the true blue bloods won back to back - - UCLA with Kareem right ? – -Coack K didn’t I don’t believe - - a lot and I mean a lot has to go your way to do that. Bill must be doing something right or he wouldn’t have the type of success he has had over the years.
