@Crimsonorblue22 Pretty sure he is being facetious…we all know quality transfers can really do great! It is just bizarre to claim that they could only do well if they just are willing to wait another year or two.
Not sure their only concern is the NBA, though. Being a starter somewhere gives them huge exposure for eventual play internationally where the game hasn’t devolved to the 1-on-1 isolations now dominating the NBA. Traditional centers have a future overseas.

@BShark To me if you go to a blue blood, you should expect to be recruited over to an extent. They go after the best players every year, to me its common sense.

@FarmerJayhawk Bill Self simply not allowing him to take dumb shots will as well.
Playing next to Juan, Kev, Morris/Jackson, and KJ also will increase it.
Hard to watch his tape and not be impressed. I’m a huge numbers guy, but the talent is there in this case.

Bill is not one to pocket a scholarship, much less essentially two. Sort of surprising to me if true. Also surprised Bill is okay being this thin at the 5 spot.

I would assume yes. Based on the numbers I am hearing (grain of salt) Kevin was more expensive.
Also TIFWIW but I have heard Parker is actually going to play and that we like him.

@BShark All because Self said he’s going to play kj on the wing which he’s committed to and his bias is coming into play.
Could bolster the roster and be unstoppable but settles.
That’s not taking KU to another level. Getting Nelson takes KU to another level.

KJ will start though I will bet anything on it. I think I mentioned it before but I think Bill will get away from it eventually but it will take at least 15 games imo.

Why? Even if you think the offense will be hot garbage with KJ at the 4 spot, this team doesn’t have to be great on offense because this will be an elite defensive team with Harris, Morris, McCullar, KJ, and Dickinson because Harris, Morris, McCullar, and KJ are all above average to elite level defenders. Teams are going to struggle to score 65 points against KU next season so KU doesn’t have to be the highest scoring team next year to be really good.

The defense would be elite…but the offense would need Morris to live up to all recruiting expectations

@BShark Yes, another McCormack and Doke type deal. It can work if Hunter can hit the top of the key 3 consistently.

Regarding the defensive stuff we will play our best competition early in Maui.
UK is down and we will get uconn in the friendly confines of AFH.
IU on the road is a nice test.
Big 12 I think will be down this year and that will inflate our defensive rankings prior to the tourney. I’ve not researched much on other big 12 teams but seems besides wvu most will be worse from the twitterverse

I’m just not buying that we’re done adding. Does not seem like Bill Self to me. Even if it isn’t Nelson.
I do think he might have seen the issue with too many mouths to feed last year. But that is a 2024 problem. You’ve got a NC caliber roster you could put over the top with one more depth add at the 4/5 spot.

Wonder if Nelson will plan to visit soon? He’s apparently visiting Alabama… I think we would have heard something about him or anyone else setting up a visit by now, or in the next few days… if Self thinks there is a need for a shooting 4, then Self will get someone. If not, then we’re all set. This has been arguably the wildest offseason I’ve ever seen. 8 effing transfers leaving KU- yikes. And next year, the question will be not which of our recruits will leave, but who will stay.

The crazy thing is I think we likely only end up truly missing one of the bigs out of this whole group. I’d lean towards that being Zuby, honestly as I think he will end up a 16ppg guy eventually. I get it though, Self was able to land a star in the portal.

I said before Zuby and Udeh left that I felt Zuby has the higher ceiling long term over Udeh. I think both have a similar ceiling in offense, but I believe Zuby is the better overall defender. Zuby was a significantly better rebounder and actually was a better shot blocker than Udeh.

Kentucky is a sewage dump right now , people going insane. – Oscar Gone , Livingston gone , Reeves is gone .- -Oh they will be decent, they still have quality players but Kentucky base feels it’s the end of the world

It’s pretty inexplicable that calipari didn’t get a single transfer. Out of those three players, Reeves seemed like the only one with a solid shot of coming back.

Makes sense. Kev should be first team all conference this season. This was bigger then any transfer we got

I really don’t think we should be the heavy favorite we are. I just don’t know that we have enough scoring from the perimeter. I think Jackson or Morris could be total studs. So I’m not saying that it is impossible. I just don’t like putting those expectations on either of them.
We need Kev and KJ to really take a step forward this season.
