Never seen anything like it.
It’s actually unreal. I get that he’s been screwed by injuries but it’s crazy to me that there are still fans that are saying stuff like “he’s sticking it out let’s give him a chance” or “he provides rim penetration”. Didn’t bill single him out at the banquet? This guy just wants to collect NIL money and not play
Supposedly Self has told him for over a year he’s unlikely to play ever and he just won’t leave.
I know it may not be tactful, but aren’t scholarships year by year? We’ve sent guys packing before. Weird.
I say all that of course still not knowing a thing about his skillset.

tl;dr P5 and Notre Dame started guaranteeing scholarships for 4 years around 2015.

Well the Morris thread is too weird to post in tbh so I’ll put this in here.
Looking at how Texas used Morris last year in terms of position and ball handling responsibilities (I know this was a reported reason for his transfer) the players with Kansas that played this position were basically McCullar and Yesufu. I don’t remember how we listed the order, but McCullar was functionally our “two” guard. Gradey was a wing all the way and didn’t do much handling. Timberlake functioned similarly at Towson his entire time there and should offer a fair bit more handling at the 3. If you go back another year to the title team, Ochai was defined by these same things as the wing, and CB the wing guard/“two”. As things sit the only pure wing we have, and he might be closer to 3/4 hybrid is Marcus Adams. If it’s been a 25 year old 40% (in college 3 point shooter) and an 18 year old that’s likely going to have a big adjustment period I can imagine what Bill will go with to start at the 3.

There is one scholarship left. If they want to add another guard/wing besides Dickinson someone has to go.
OR, we could modify the self imposed scholarship reduction. Not a likely option but its still an option.

This is how it was when i was a college athlete, year to year. Many here have stated that its a four year agreement now. Must have changed.

Heck Kev and jwill often brought it up when Juan was playing all those minutes in games with minimal days rest.

Well I just saw where Mackenzie Mgbako will be on Campus this week for his visit, Now I fully realize this will never happen but man could you imagine this line up - they had it post by a guy named Sam Lance Hoops-- said KU’s dream line up :- - Mercy :
Pg -Dejuan Harris , 2 Guard , -Elmarko Jackson , - -3 , Mackenzie Mgbako - -4 KJ Adams - -& at the 5 Hunter Dickinson
Coming off the Bench :- - -A Morris , -Timberlake , - -E Udeh - -& Marcus Adams . -Jumpin gee hossie toads - -that would be so sweet.
Guess Coach told Mackenzie they would love to fit him in Gradys spot from last year. 6"8 -Average 16.3 & 9.2 rpg on the team he played for-- how nice it would be - -BUT either Kyle would have to go - -or like been talk about Cj leaving oh well

Unfortunately it’s best to wait on word from early practices to really try and get a good pulse on things. That’s when I expected Gradey to be OAD.

If I were to guess what happens right this second, Marcus Adams gets the Oubre treatment early. Will need to really bring the effort on D to see the floor over KJ.

I don’t think he will ever see the floor “over” KJ tbh. Should get some minutes though, unless we add another stud from the portal.

Wish Cuffe would land elsewhere or cj’s people would see he isn’t going to get minutes so we could snag Holland or Mgbako

I heard during the visit that it wasn’t going well. Almost never happens. Not sure how the reporters will handle talking about this one but it did not go well.

I never thought Tyson was a great option personally. Bill is going to get someone though. Either we miss on Hunter or a 4th scholly is popping free.

p personally feel we have a better chance at Mgbako then Holland. I think Holland wants to stay closer Suth, he is from Texas I think wasn’t he–another Reason he chose Texas along with Beard in the 1st place I think Mgbako would be a nice fit if we don’t land Hunter which I just can’t get a read on still think 50/50 at best.
Read off Kentucky oard a Villanova insider said Kentucky was out , probably saying that because of him being Villanova lol – but he said Kentuky was out and it was down between Villanova & KU. - -Anyone know is Hunter still going to take the Gonzaga visit ?

Yikes. Guess he wasn’t very coachable. Well hopefully hunter pops soon so we can swing on one of those 5 star wings

He’s pretty soft is what Tech fans are saying. When you look at his tools, the production really should be higher if he had a great work ethic.
He could definitely have been good for us if he would have ended up here and also took to Self’s coaching. I think he wants more of a “players coach” at this point.

Bossi said that his family wanted more promises and assurances regarding role. Guess they saw how Dillion Mitchell and arterio played this season and didn’t feel great about Texas and one and done.

Bill Self can probably do a much better job of selling a starting role and path to the NBA than Rodney Terry did.

Mgbako is a fair bit better. Similar archetype though and we can use depth at that spot either way.
