Again - - PASS - - PASS - -& - -PASS we don’t need any more sittings about the possibility of questionable players and outside problems. - there are better players still out there without having to deal with these kind of issues

That doesn’t mean we won’t take Tyson. Situations are fluid. If Cuffe leaves…the picture will get clearer.

Honestly…it’s awkward for me to even read about and we’re just fans/posters. Self has been pretty open in interviews for at least a year that he won’t play if healthy…and NLI aside I think any athlete would actually want to play the sport. It’s like why stay?

Hunter, Tyson, and Ingram would be an awesome haul. Swapping out Cuffe for another year of Kevin would be great too. Its a lot of similar position players on the roster though, could really use another guard unless they feel super strong about Elmarko stepping right in. There just aren’t many in the portal that I feel great about.

I’m starting to be rather confident we take 3 perimeter players no matter what. And we’ll see a 4th departure if Dickinson picks KU.

Ingram visits next week
Morris is currently visiting.
Tyson has interest/KU has interest. Could see a visit soon? Perhaps this weekend?
Battle reporting interest.
Spears visit next week (still TBD it sounds)
Hart is down to 4 & will announce Friday (KU included) but sounds like he’ll go elsewhere.

Though if you used Ingram as the secondary ballhandler you could run Juan Battle Tyson Ingram Dickinson out no problemo. I’m a broken record on this but adding Ingram just makes your options open up so much more. You don’t necessarily need another guard with Juan so you can play 3 wings at a time.

@BShark Purely from a basketball perspective I’m happy as long as they get 2 of the wings/guards they’re on right now (sans Spears who I never really felt like was a KU level player in the first place). Getting 3 of them would be huge. My guess is Bill is pitching Morris on starting at the 2, Battle/Tyson at the 3 and Ingram at the 4 in a "point forward’ role.
I’m also getting good vibes on the Dickinson front…

Hunter is going to make it to Lawrence. Having an apples to apples comparison of KU and Maryland will be eye opening. My gut says we still get a 4th spot. Idk exactly how (maybe just eat the penalty in like 2026) but I think we make room for 4 if we need.

I’ve wondered about the possibility of kicking that can down the road. It’s wholly up to the staff, right?

@benshawks08 I believe so. It would be weird for the NCAA to tell KU how to construct its roster but they’ve done weirder things.

@FarmerJayhawk I’d hope this year is unique in the need for scholarships. As long as this isn’t the new normal, I’d rather get all we can this year and hope for a little more stability in the next couple of years.

@benshawks08 same. The covid recruiting era is ending so hopefully fewer whiffs on our end. The portal is definitely the new normal but I’d like to add 3-4 new guys per year instead of 8

Yeah 8 really is too much. Took a large amount of massive whiffs and failed development to have happen.

@FarmerJayhawk Or even just have the 4 (5 if you count cuffe) a little more spread out position wise. We have a starting point guard and then 3 guys who we really don’t feel super comfortable starting at the 5. That has to be some kind of anomaly in the Self era. Maybe 2008 is comparable?
