2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but )

Sounds like the pursuits of Christian Collins, Brandon McCoy are going nowhere. Ariza is deciding soon between Oregon/USC soon. Just rounding up some names KU was linked with in recent months.
If Adkins commits Sunday as planned KU will have the #2 ranked class in 26 for now. Bardwell’s decision today could sway this later on next year if he moves to 26 class. As it looks KU is probably done until spring you would think for next year.
So one person told me a spring decision on the reclass but another that I trust told me days ago that Bardwell would announce his commitment to KU and reclass all at once on Friday.
Would love to get Collins with being out on Stokes but bird in the hand with Bardwell.
-
Bardwell, Rosario and hopefully a vet transfer should be a nice wing rotation next year.
-
Well to bas e missed on Tryan , but we have a pretty good class sitting up/ We landed Kinne , Trent – -Then all signs for Adkins & if Bardwell re-classifies – Bardwell is another top 20 player,
I imagine we will be finished with High School and probably concentrate for a couple of Portal I’ll take it
-
8:30 pm CST for Bardwell
-
Leaning towards no reclass announcement today
-
Welcome Javon!!

-
Seems like we were connected to a ton of 5 star wings after bland came on and they decided on Bardwell. Excited to see him play
-
If he doesn’t end up re-classifying going to bee really har to keep him here
e that long. That’s a long time for a verbal, good chance he bails.
-
Bardwell would be like 20 as a freshman if he doesn’t reclassify so I’m gonna assume they’re gonna make it happen

-
How good at offense is Davion Adkins?
-
Not done yet…
-
I’d listen to that guy ^
-
Is it me or haven’t we seen davion Adkins type before
6’9 200 pounds;7’2 wing span
“Undersized big” who doesn’t offer much on offense but hes " a rim protector"
He reminds me of
Cliff Alexander Chieck diallo And Silvio desousa
-
@ReggieKansas he’s a somewhat more skilled but less athletic Flory type. Houston rotates bigs like this.
-
@BShark I agree with your assessment
-
Other previous under sized bigs for KU - Perry Ellis, Darnell Jackson, Darrell Arthur, Travis Releford, Darren Hancock.
-
Travis Releford was a guard. If Adkins is anything like Perry Ellis or Darnell Jackson, I am happy.
-
@Jhawk69 So was Svi, but they both played the 4 - there’s another undersized “big”
I don’t think Bill always cares about convention.
-
Can Adkins shoot, drive, handle the ball, and defend the perimeter like Releford or Svi? Because if not I don’t think those are relevant comparisons.

No. And I would add Jalen Wilson and Josh Jackson to the guards playing the 4 group not that it matters.
Adkins sees himself as a 5 man, fwiw: https://x.com/_showtimedee/status/1972686050922287130
One last thing and this will sound corny but it does seem like he really just wanted to be here. The NIL number I heard was quite low for a player of his ranking.

That is genuinely refreshing. I despise players like Flory that are clearly only in Lawrence for the money.
-
Can’t lie have no idea how you can despise Flory.

It’s simple. Because he’s a mercenary. It’s all about the money. The door should’ve hit him in the ass when he hit the portal.
-
My understanding (from this forum) is that we lowballed him on the NIL and he didn’t want to pay (or leave on the table) several hundred thousand dollars to play at KU. He insisted on market value. I don’t see that as “mercenary”, just as “not an idiot”.
-
@HoraceZontal There is a good way to handle negotiations and a poor way. The way it was handled by Flory leaves me feeling he is an asshole, douchebag, piece of shit. It’s entertainment - he’s a heel. Fuck ‘em.
I hope someone that wants to be here takes his minutes. Flory isn’t worth the price. They’re low rent pros now, not children to be coddled, and this one is flat out a Calipari Kentucky caliber of low character - a mercenary.
-
@dylans Ok lets slow down a bit with that rhetoric. Feel free to be disappointed with how he handled the situation, but that doesn’t make him a piece of shit. Would you stay at a job even if you love it if another company was coming in and offering to more than double your salary? Cause that is what we are talking about here. Flory isn’t guaranteed to have a NBA career and also has to worry about getting injured and missing the opportunity to even get there. This could be his only chance to make a decent bit of money that could have to last him the rest of his life. Ideally yes, you want players to love KU and only want to play here, but KU also can’t be lowballing their returning players that much and expect to get that kind of loyalty even with players that grow up KU fans.
I do agree he doesn’t need to be coddled, he got paid and now he needs to shows up this season. If come next month, he isn’t showing any improvement, then he deserves all the criticism you want to give him.

This…they lowballed him and he left to view the market. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t love KU…
-
The fact he came back means a lot to me. I think he could have gotten market value elsewhere and not dealt with the baggage of post negotiations but he chose to come back and stick with it. I am thankful. It was a massive returner for us and helped the other dominoes fall.

I have done just this.
a man of principle- principles are expensive, I am all too aware. Also it paid off in the long run, just like being a Jayhawk would.

If your only plan in life to make money is basketball you’re a moron. There is a free education attached - one that most people pay handsomely for.

Flory averaged less points and more fouls per minute than AJ Storr, let that sink in.

I can and will criticize him whenever I damn well please. His actions are that of an impetuous money grubbing unprincipled piece of crap.

I don’t believe that a market developed. Who would pay top dollar for an undersized big with limited skill and a foul a minute habit? Sounds like a Bill Self big to me. Should’ve let him walk.
-
Do believe they considered letting him walk. Contacted several portal bigs and got a feel for price/value. Ultimately decided to take him back vs other options.
-
@BShark Good maybe they can get rid of him after this year if he asks for big money again and performs like last year. Flory might be able to play in the Euro league down the road, but he’s not an NBA talent, if you’re paying top of the market I’d expect top talent, not damaged goods.

Not giving yourself a lot of credibility in this argument by cherry picking stats to compare him to Storr lol.

Never said you couldn’t just that I think you are wrong to do so.

Maybe you have, and good for you if it worked out. Can you say for sure that your situation was the exact same as Flory’s? Maybe you had a boss/company you trusted, do you know Flory has the same relationship with the staff? Were you also a 19 yr old from a different country likely being pushed by your guardian to make certain decisions? Have some empathy before villainizing people, especially someone on a team you support.
-
Also just because someone doesn’t share your principles, doesn’t make them an asshole.
-
@MR11 No it doesn’t, but in this case it appears to be the actions of a short sighted selfish person. Asshole is just shorter to write.

That he is in anyway comparable to Storr or Griffen is extremely disappointing.

I’m sorry for you if you haven’t figured out that loyalty pays.

Bill Self is now untrustworthy?

I respect all upfront. My disrespect is earned. Flory has earned it.

The Flory hate is cray cray. Thats all I got.

Man… thanks for going this way because I thought I was the last holdout on “old school” principles.
Read my last thread… I hate most of college basketball but am excited about Self and how, once again, he will meet the challenge of the changing landscape. Was it excitement about Self, or was it the reality that I finally bit the bullet and accepted the landscape myself?
You are still holding on to the old college basketball. That ship has sailed. I can relate to your comments… but Flory isn’t the problem. You might say he is the symptom. I even think that is a little harsh. He’s a foreign player feeling very blessed to better his life financially and comes from a background where making this kind of cake is nothing more than a lottery dream.
