I hate the waist bands. To me, it screams we ran out of material for the shorts so we had to add a different color at the top to make them long. Also, Louisville has been wearing that style all season and now we look like copycats.

Not a fan of the weird waistbands. They look like low-slung cummerbunds or gun belts with no guns.

I bagged on these a while back on another thread. I’d be okay with the waistband itself-that would be one or two inches. These just look bad.

NC State wore them yesterday against Pitt, and they looked predictably stupid. On TV they look like sagger shorts.
(Probably got the camo idea last year from this dude. Next year, don’t be shocked to see the “jersey pulled over the head” look)

@DanR Ok, in light of all the uproar in our society lately, I want to be very sensitive here and don’t want anyone to take this the wrong way. Maybe it’s a culture thing - but why in the name of all that is holy would anyone want to wear their drawers like that ???

I saw a redheaded pasty white guy in his early 20s with a hipster beard trying to waddle across Mass Street last week wearing khaki skinny pants that were cinched around the top of his thighs. I literally pointed and laughed and it felt kind of good to be getting old.

There’s no place like home plate. That’s exactly what the Jackson Generals of the Southern League are saying when they announce that their ballplayers will be made to wear jerseys themed after Dorothy from the The Wizard of Oz on a night celebrating the classic film.
Yep, come May 15 at the Ballpark at Jackson (Tenn.), the Class AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners will wear uniforms that make the players all look like Judy Garland impersonators. The players will be begging fans to pay no attention to the men beyond the grandstand.
Themed minor league jerseys have become quite the fashion deal in recent seasons. Back in February, we reported on the Saved By The Bell jerseys the Brooklyn Cyclones were planning. Another team dressed up like ancient Egyptians. Another has a Christmas Sweater theme planned for July. This idea tops (?) them all. Jumps all of the sharks. Is way, way, WAY over the rainbow. The players are going to need a lot of nerve to wear them.
No, it’s not an April Fool’s joke. It’s March 13. (Jackson Generals) As you can see from the schematics provided by the team, the jerseys are styled in the blue and white gingham pinafore dress Dorothy wore, along with with red ruby slipper accents and — AND, AND, AND — pigtails. Pigtails! (Well, pigtails are very softball, which is like baseball.)
There’s also a jersey tag that includes renderings of Emerald City, the Yellow Brick Road and all of the parting gifts the Wizard gave to Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. (Although, some say that Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t already have.) Oh, and there’s an image of Dorothy’s little dog, too. Toto.
Hey, why not throw in some ruby red baseball cleats while you’re at it?

So people will look and ask the same question. It’s to get attention without doing something to earn it.

Sagging came from prison culture. They sag because they can’t have belts in prison. Apparently it’s cool to dress like you’re in prison.
The good thing is when they tie their ankles together (by sagging) they can’t run very fast after commiting the crime.

My boys sagged in high school, all their friend sagged. It’s an age thing. Not as many do it now as they use to. Most wore a pair of shorts under their clothes, so it wasn’t bad. You could never see the rear end.

It sort of reminds me of the punk culture in the 70s-80s. Something from London because the conservative moment wanted to push people off the dole. The pressure was building… especially when the Iron Lady took power in '79. The youth was forced into seeking employment, so all the spike colored hair, piercings, and wardrobe prevented them from being hired.
Personally… I prefer the punk movement. They put a lot more energy into their protest… Plenty of creativity, which extended into the punk rock music scene.
