@AsadZ It’s a pick that’s being panned by a lot of Sox fans. The common comment is if he’s so good why didn’t the Royals hire him? I obviously hope he’s good but our administration has screwed up so many hires I’ll believe it when I see it.

@AsadZ Apparently he’d been on J.J. and Sherman’s radar for a while due to his success in Tampa Bay & Cleveland. Going to wait and see, but early national feedback seems to be positive.
The media reports talk about how well Quatraro did with “small market teams.” Had to chuckle a bit about that…the Tampa-St. Pete market is now ranked Number 13 in the country, ahead of Detroit, Miami, the Twin Cities and St. Louis. (Seems like these national writers think a “small market” is someplace that isn’t New York or L.A.)

@nwhawkfan The 13th market actually puts them in the bottom half of the mlb tv markets (17th, by my count) since LA, SF, NY, and Chicago all have multiple teams. There is also a significant dropoff in size from top to middle.

@wissox I think Royals did not hire him as they wanted to have a fresh start, someone from outside with a new approach. He was well regarded by the players.

Grifol was the only internal candidate that had any chance of being hired by KC in this cycle, but like @AsadZ said, they needed a clean break from the previous regime. I expect we will see new people throughout the development chain for KC, but Grifol will probably do well in Chicago (but hopefully not too well).

Well before all the Yankee haters comin flyin at me, THIS IS NOT - -IS NOT trying to throw anything in anybody’s face - -THIS is purely and sincerely acknowledging a great feat a ONCE in a life time accomplishment.- So just appreciate what he did, - - Domingo German threw a perfect game last night - - a perfect game -27 up - -& 27 down. – -only the 4th time in NY History & 24th time in ML History You really got to be on your game to accomplish that. Rizzo made a really good play they highlighted down the line to preserve it - but for the most part just a great pitching performance , and YEs NY stinks this year but doesn’t take away from this

Judge has hit more home runs this season away from NY (25) than at home, (19). https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/33192/aaron-judge
If you look at his year by year stats available on that site, you can see in his first 3 years (2016-18) he hit more at home than on the road (55 to 29). Starting in 2021, he has hit more on the road every season, 20 more all together (101 to 81).
Overall, in 9 seasons Judge has hit 152 hrs at home, and 149 on the road. He has probably become better overall by not trying to go for that porch.

@dylans I read an interesting article highlighting why the AL Central is doing so well. Twins and Royals are way over .500 against CWS, although the Guardians are around .500. They get to play against Chicago many more times than other divisions. Which requires this:
