I’m not disappointed in who’s leaving so far, it’s like a job with the NIL. Players have to understand they fought for it to be that way but just like a job if I can find someone better for the same pay. See ya later that’s the dog eat dog world we live in.

@kjayhawks whispers it’s always been this way, but the old transfer portal rules meant more loyalty from both sides. It’s purely year to year now.

I don’t think anyone will be too disappointed by anyone leaving. Maybe ONE guy, and he is the one that had a choice to come back. I wish them all the best at their next stop.

@BShark ya I know money has always changed hands but the schools had more power in the past to keep a guy. I agree and hold zero ill will towards any of the guys leaving. Hope they find a good spot for themselves.

@kjayhawks I’m curious to see how it all shakes out. My loyalty is to the university. I haven’t bought any nil merch and all I wear is Jayhawk t-shirts. The players come and go, but the mascot stays the same. I’m hopeful some form of stability comes about so the brand doesn’t become faded with little player loyalty currently (goes both ways).

@dylans yes that’s one of the issues with the college game these days. The 80s and 90s maybe even early 00s will always be a better era of collegiate sports. The games were better because guys understood the game better, stayed longer to develop and loved the universities they played for. That’s why I’ve always preferred college to pros. The emotion of game has always been higher compared to I made big plays so I know I’m getting a better contract or something. If it’s gets to the point of being more like the pros I’m not sure I’ll watch anymore.

@Woodrow hot goss says 3 starter-level guys. The only one that Slater has name-dropped officially was Harrison Ingram. And he’d be the lowest scorer of the 3 guys that are linked to KU right now… As long as this all holds true we’ll be pretty happy.

I wish the best for him. He had his heart set on starting this year and it just didn’t work out. He is still the only KU player who ever answered a tweet I made welcoming him to the team when he signed.

ya seems like a really good kid - -just didn’t develop like they thought. - You know sometimes the College game is a cold thing , sure you get the free ride with the Scholi but just like this as we know these a yearly thing and can get pulled at anytime - - seems kinda of cold hearted but yet I understand it’s kind of like a business. @BeddieKU23 This is probably one of my biggest “misses” ever from player expectations. I thought Joe would end up a star at KU. If he ends up under the right coach, I think they may have a hidden gem. Someone who can get him back to the .384 shooter he was at Drake.

Yeah definitely a miss for me too. Really struggled with the mental aspect of playing here it felt. He was never the confident player we saw at Drake. Oh well he helped us some just not enough. Always a hawk!

Here’s a big one, Syracuse’s Joe Girard in the portal. Can’t imagine he’d be a target just mentioning. Big time shooter but small.
He’s from around my neck of the woods, saw him play in High School when he was breaking every NY state scoring record. Routinely went for 50 and would shoot from half court sometimes, he was that cocky. His dad rubbed a lot of people wrong, probably why Boheim took him LOL.
