Maybe he could play for KU again. How’s that NIL budget looking? lol
Apparently teams are recruiting the G league guys and somehow signing them. Spoiler alert Izzo is not happy about it. -

@BShark Wow, if everyone is happy then all the anger, and posted claims of illegal recruiting, in fan reactions to recruiting surprises are just pretend?
Well, let’s be honest, the fans don’t matter as long as they show up or watch.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, I am sure there was so much spin in his comments that the official keepers of Earth time will need to add a full second to the day.
I was just reading through college basketball articles and I found this image. I feel like it’s a good visual representation of why a lot of people don’t like Duke…

All our young guys have a long ways to go, however… I’m sensing better basketball IQ (cumulative) from this team.
I’ve been banging this drum. Been very high on that aspect especially for Grimes and the Lawsons.

Anyone seeing it on ESPN+?
I did really actually I though pretty decent quality probably gonna stick with this for the 6 games and the next exhibition - -wasn’t sure how I would like it , but no complaints
@JayHawkFanToo No shoes aren’t even a little the reason for the contracts. KU fans buy A TON of gear. Enough to cover even the crazy $191M contract. I worked in this exact field, first hand, as a manager, and know some numbers to back this up. The paying players behind closed doors is more of a compound effect of this. I can make a longer more detailed post if you’d like tomorrow.
@drgnslayr You didn’t direct it to me but I want to just ask–how do you have regular contact with, or chances to watch, kids who are playing for shoe-sponsored AAU coaches and teams and leagues, and how do you get info about the kids from those coaches, without having contact with the shoe companies’ representatives?
@Crimsonorblue22 I think they would back him no matter what unless he did something truly egregious. Look at what Urban Meyer did and Ohio St stood by him. Hall of fame coaches do not grow on trees. Think about the amount of money Self earns the school. There is no way they cut ties without unless they have too.
At some point the NCAA will either cave to letting players get side deals or they will cease to exist. At least at the current trajectory, College Athletics has outgrown it’s model and there will be a tipping point.
@mayjay like your statement about “consistent with guilt and inconsistent with innocence.” Never heard that but completely understand the importance of context.
@Bosthawk
I don’t think its as easy as saying there’s a formula or template used. As you’ve seen with all the stuff from the trial some players had “bidding” wars that upped the price. Generally though the higher ranked players would get the most.
I will share just a few details of the case I mentioned I’m familiar with, regarding a 2019 recruit. There was a bidding war for his services among multiple programs under the same shoe company affiliation. It was just a matter of which deal was the right deal for this player and family. There were short term and long term benefits offered from all in some fashion.
If a family/guardian/handler is involved, more then likely they are approached first. If you want influence over someone’s son, you probably start there. I think it also depends on the player. Did they become recognizable talent early on? Late bloomer? If your child is a HS freshman playing on a high profile AAU team imagine how many events and people cross paths with each other over the course of 3+ years.
To your last point about KU 4 year players. I would put the % at 50% likely, maybe even a low figure. Many 4 year KU players are still Top 100 type recruits.

atleast our program is clean and not linked to any scandals. All you bluebloods are alike…get all the calls, have refs on your payroll, have major shoe companies funneling money to recruits, getting the best recruits…must make your blood boil seeing a team of the common man beating you.
I think we did you wrong. Unbanned!
If KU does Champions Classic, plus Big 12/SEC and Big 12/Big East, plus an early season tournament (Maui, NIT, etc.), and a non-con road test, the non conference schedule will be very strong every year. That’s not a bad slate.
