  We can all differ in our feelings towards Kstate, but personally, I could care less if there was a rivalry with them or not. People here trying to spin a positive if ksu has a strong bball program, but why? NOBODY outside of half of Kansans care about Kstate. Doesnt matter what banners they have/dont have, but people seriously: we are in too small of a TV mrkt for it to matter. KU matters on the national radar only because of Self keeping us in the top10, Self’s hi-profile recruiting, our RPI & SOS, and the fact we routinely schedule big mrkt east-coast teams. Beating Duke, UNC x 3, MichSt, Gtown & battling FL & even KY ('12) helps our exposure. You dont get an invite to the Champions Classic without being one. KSU can suck, suck, suck for all I care. And I will surely twist the knife/dig the talons DEEP (or whatever other picturesque-yet-disturbing metaphor conveys the sentiment), the minute Snyderfossil retires. Back to the stone age for purple felines… (As usual, my apologies for offending any jayhawks in a house-divided household)

Honestly I think we as Kansas fans are very fortunate to have him as our coach. He’s a HoF’er, first balloter. But I’m not married to him so I just don’t always have to agree with what he does. And isn’t this back and forth another fun part of being an arm chair point guard?

  @Crimsonorblue22 Will try to chat tonight. Have other obligations oft times & cannot indulge. Generally evening games I can hang out with you friends for an hour or so, but day games are different-work, family, etc. You know what they say girl? Nose to the grindstone & hand on the wheel, but not like @drgnslayr will for the next 20 YEARS MINIMUM !!! We miss having small children for sure, but not quite that bad !!

  @icthawkfan316 Excellent post. What’s the point of watching 30+ Kansas Basketball games and not being able to enjoy the many wins we experience each year. Just think if we make it to the final game next year. That would be 2008, 2012, and 2016. That seems pretty successful to me. Of course we want to win it all every year, but the format of the tourney is not designed for that.

  Devonte had a great game. He single handily with Mason & Ellis saved this game. It was great to see him respond to his own criticism of his game and then come out and have maybe the game of his career. I think Self just rode the hot hand and with 2 driving point guards out there we were just too quick for TCU. Selden had one of those games where he was just kind of there, a few plays that don’t show up in the box score but offensively he was just out there. Devonte must now keep this aggressiveness. If he performs similar on Monday on the road I will believe this game wasn’t just a quick up because before yesterday his game was trending way down. His turnovers in the West Virginia game were very freshman like. He’s averaged 3 points a game on the road including Zero in his last 3 games away from Allen. It’s much easier for a freshman to perform well at home then away so I will be paying attention to how he does against the kitties.

  Some days it may not sound like it, but I love KU as much as anyone can imagine, but there is NO way we are going to the FF this year. Unless - Cliff and Wayne learn how to play ball between now and then. And basically the whole team learns to shoot free throws. And HCBS figures out that this year, we’re a better outside shooting team than most everyone else - in the country. And…sigh…let Greene shoot about twenty 3 pointers per game. I’ve been wrong before and I hope I’m wrong now - but the only way this team goes to the Final Four is if they buy tickets.

  @Lulufulu It would be great if he does come back and gets a full chance in the off-season to work on individual skill and get those extra games this summer. But he’s in a position where he can get paid first round money and that is usually enough to take. There’s no guarantee that next year he has a starting spot with Ellis back & Bragg coming in. Not to mention Traylor will be a 5th year senior who is going to play. What we really need is a quality center because the likelihood Lucas takes a major leap isn’t a wise thing to predict. Cliff could still be our Center because he’s got a skill level that could dominate once he figures it out.

  @HighEliteMajor You sure like to stir it up…don’t you. Selden by far. I get the rationale behind the question, though. I think Selden is a victim of his perceived (maybe real) potential I know I was really excited the way he looked in the McDonald’s game. Great quickness, super passing, good shooter. But I also thought that Malik Newman was the fastest player I every saw last weekend when he was on TV. Things sometimes change when they get to the next level. Maybe he still has slight injuries. I know the lack of finishing at the rim is vexing. But, the biggest surprise to me is the ballhandling. I hold my breath when he handles the ball against any kind of pressure. I still think he is a very good player. Good perimeter defender, improving shooter. Just not as complete as all had hoped. Maybe there’s still time…

  As I mentioned in another thread, it took a team effort for Kansas to be in the position to rely on Jamari to make a great throw and Perry a great over the shoulder catch to win the game. Unfortunately the end result is all some dwell on.

  The shot clock violation earlier in the game should have been reviewed and reversed. The layup by Staten was not reviewable. To be honest, I did not see the walk initially because I was looking at our (lack of) defensive help on the play. Giving up an uncontested layup is unforgivable, regardless of whether he traveled or not. We did not deserve to have that call reversed even if it could be because we didn’t make the right basketball play to rotate over and help. I would even bet that the fact that we did not rotate may have influenced the no call. Without the defense coming over, the referee sees an uncontested layup off a spin move. Since Staten didn’t stumble or bobble the ball, there’s really nothing to see there, and the referee may have incorrectly been fooled into thinking there was no violation. If we rotate over and Staten has to take that extra step while maneuvering around a defender, now we probably get a call. I don’t blame the refs. I blame our defense.

  Interesting conversation on Dan Patrick’s radio show the other day about Penny Hardaway and Derrick Rose that might be relevant. Discussing Derrick Rose post-recovery–how he’s become a ‘jump shooter’ and doesn’t go hard to the bucket nearly as much. Penny said he totally relates, because after his injury, he never trusted his leg to go hard into traffic and just instinctually pulled up all the time. Wasn’t long after that, he was out of the league. Before reading this thread, I was just about to post and come down hard on Wayne after re-watching the WV game, that he doesn’t belong on the court–nothing but turnovers and bad passes that caused his teammates to turn over. And in the second half, after a sweet feed from Jamari, he misses a layup. Granted, he was fouled, but with an ‘NBA ready body’-- you gotta finish that. Then he proceeded to miss to free throws. You’re might be right about him dealing with emotional scars–something just doesn’t seem right with him.
