  @HighEliteMajor You are not wrong. The salaries in the D-League are were small or nominal as I mentioned. There is a proposal to raise the salaries to something more reasonable but I am not sure how soon it will be implemented or if at all. Many of the players are under NBA contracts and biding time until they improve enough to join the parent team, I believe Diallo is in this category, but most are there holding to a slim hope that they will play well enough to catch a scout’s attention and get a shot. If you ever watch the games, the audience is in the hundreds at best so really not a money maker. No question that the benefits a player get playing at KU, particularly the national exposure, greatly exceeds that of the D-League. Of course, a college player cannot be called to the NBA on a moments notice but those odds are not that good in the first place. I can understand leaving if there are assurances that a team will sign you to a contract and stash you in the D-League , like Alexander, but leaving to play in the D-League for that measly salary does not seem like the best option but then…hope springs eternal in the human breast - Alexander Pope on “Essay on Man.”

  @jaybate-1.0 I haven’t read all the posts on this topic between you and @wissox . So, I’m not taking sides here at all. I just want to say that I’m not sure you can diminish any win this season against Kentucky or Duke. Were they a little short handed against us? yeah sure maybe they were but hey, KU, us, we have been short handed nearly all season and we keep winning games that we shouldn’t have a prayer in. Last nights WVU game is a prime example. You know, earlier in the season I questioned this teams toughness. I said that they were soft and that the 2012 team of 6 guys would kick their asses back to the school yard court. Right now, I think I have to retract that statement at least 3/4ths of the way. Last night our boys proved they are TOUGH. Tough as nails. All 7.5 of our guys are tough as nails. Bragg has some work to do but he had a couple of big boy plays that impressed me last night. I personally think we would give the 2012 team a run for their money. I really do. TRob would be all over Landen, no contest there. But what would TRob do when he had to switch onto Josh or Svi on the perimeter? Both those guys at 6’8" just as tall and could drain threes or drive around the slower but way stronger TRob. That’s just one match up problem I see. I do think the 2012 team would win in a head to head match up but it would be a very very close game. Our guards this year are way way better than the 2012 team. So, both teams have match up advantages and disadvantages. I like our guys now. They are learning to fight all the way til the final whistle. Never say die. That gives me good feelings about March. I believe they can win with an asymmetrical whistle and a poor trey shooting night. That makes them very tough to beat next month

  @approxinfinity Coach Self has thrown so many wrinkles into his game plan for opposing coaches to sort through that its damned near impossible for them to game plan against. What have we seen so far? Just off the top of my head; 4 out 1 in, back to basics with his 3 out 2 in, even playing 5 guards for a few possessions, all of which can shoot from outside. On the other end, weve seen man to man, we’ve seen two or three different zone defenses, we’ve seen the press now too. I’m thinking Coach Self has the biggest freeking magic hat in the business right now!

  @wrwlumpy Cable companies are shooting themselves on their collective foot. Increasing fees is driving customers to non cable options and soon they will be selling mostly internet access. My son has cut cable completely and gets only super fast internet and he assures me that he can get most anything without cable. Consolidated Communications is still a reasonable option in my area although their support is not nearly as good as it used to be when it was Everest or even Sure-West. The KU TV deal has certainly been a disaster in my area and most KU fans I know truly hate Zenger…I do too, of course.

  @truehawk93 Gonzaga will stay as a #1 seed but their conference schedule is so weak that offset its decent non-conference schedule and this is why it is the fourth #1 seed… Keep in mind that more recent games carry a higher value than older games, this why the loss to Indiana will not hurt KU as much and why, with every game it plays, Gonzaga’s numbers drop. If Gonzaga loses one game its numbers will take a tumble and they might end up as #2 seed. Apparently the Computer ranking place a big emphasis on margin of victory and this is why teams like Kentucky and West Virginia appear to do well in those even when they rank considerably lower on the human polls and the RPI.
