Not sure I buy the premise. Seems to be pretty tepid support for state and local funding from a lot of R’s. There is wide support for aid to schools to keep open, though and has received nearly unanimous GOP support.
Like pulling teeth to get Schumer to say yes to anything. Makes me wonder if, like Pelosi, his position is contingent on the outcome of the Georgia races.
Regardless, the final package will look similar to a lot of proposals floating around: liability shield, refueled PPP, expanded UI, aid to state and locals, additional funding for the health sector and schools, mayyybe another round of (likely smaller) checks. The rest is just posturing. McConnell won’t get his “skinny” bill and Pelosi won’t get her $3 trillion monstrosity. They’ll land around $1 trillion and we’ll all just keep rolling.
